I successfully downloaded the TT Premier app (purchased from Costco) onto my Macbook Pro running on MacOS Big Sur 11.2.1. However, when I click on the app to open it, I get the following error message from TT:
My internet is working just fine so that shouldn't be the problem.
I have tried:
1. Turning off my firewall.
2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the TT app
3. Restarting my computer
4. Restarting my internet
5. Calling TT customer service. They sent me another download and I'm getting the same error message with the new download.
Please help if you can. I have been trying to open the app periodically to for the past 24 hours to see if the TT server is indeed "busy"--no luck so far. I have been using TT for over a decade and this is the first time I've had issues. I also used this same computer for the last 3 years with no issues, so this is very frustrating!

Troubleshoot TurboTax for Mac updating issues
Hi Tiffany,
I have already tried all of the options listed in "Troubleshoot TurboTax for Mac updating issues."
1. I have ensured I'm using the program from the Applications folder.
2. My internet connection is not problematic.
3. I have emptied my Trash.
4. I went through the steps to force update, but I cannot access the forced update because the app itself will not open at all.
5. I have shut off my modem, router, and computer multiple times to attempt to restart everything.
None of this has worked to resolve the issue. Is this program compatible with Big Sur 11.2.1?
@TiffanyL please see above.
@CallumCat please take a look at the MAC minimum system requirements here
@EbonyA I am using Mac OS Big Sur 11.2 (beyond the required Big Sur 11.0) and Chrome 88 (beyond the required 83). TT Premier is not working with this setup...!
Please contact TurboTax support for assistance with this issue.
What is the TurboTax phone number?
@AkinaLO as mentioned above, I called your customer service already and she could not offer a solution other than deleting the app and restarting my computer and modem. This did not work. How can I ensure I'm put in touch with someone that can resolve this issue? Please view the error message I'm receiving and provide an actual solution. Please read through this whole thread before replying to me. Thanks.
You may want to try some of the steps provided in this discussion thread by macuser_22 to assist with resolving the update issue.
@MichelleLO I tried deleting and reinstalling via this method already. Latest update (from Sunday) in the discussion you linked to says that your rep advised a customer that TT 2020 and Big Sur 11.2.1 are NOT compatible. When do you intend to fix this?
Many people have found that they needed to delete all files associated with TurboTax from their Mac, then download the latest version of TT20 from the downloads page and install it.
Use these instructions to remove TurboTax and all it's hidden files.

It is 4 weeks since a post about problems with Turbo Tax and Mac OS Big Sur. They are still happening on March 16, 2021. I could not open a Turbo Tax RETURN THAT WAS 90+% COMPLETE !
Tried a lot of things like downloading new TT software. Re-booting and also re-loading MacOS Big Sur Version 11.2.3 Nothing worked.
Finally talked to an Apple Support person that told me there have been many complaints for the last week about MacOS and TT. She told me to create a new user on my Mac with Admin privileges and download TT 2020 there. This worked. Then I emailed a copy of my 2019 TT return and the almost complete 2020 return that was on my desktop to the newly created desktop and user and I was able to recover all my work.
I can still not open the TT2020 return on my desktop.
How do you create new user with admin rights on mac?
@George36 Please see the following FAQ: MAC Administrator Rights.
