@Rc07 Did you buy the CD or the download from Costco? If she installed using the CD........
If you installed from the CD it seems you can not download it from online now. You can't do both CD and download. See the info on this FAQ
So you need to call in to get the download pushed to your account.
Or try copying the CD to a usb flash drive. See SteamTrains post here. But this might only work for Windows.
And user insub posted a solution using the usb to copy the CD
I copied program from CD to USB. When I try to install it from the USB, I get this error message:
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2803.
Anybody got any suggestions or ideas what this means? TIA.
Can I install TurboTax onto a removable drive?

@MWJB
I entered the user name and password associate with this account. Why will it not download? Do I need to use a different computer? Thanks.
Are you having trouble with entering your license code? Please see the below help articles for assistance:
Yup, this is still happening. Tried to download a second copy of the software on a different computer using the correct account, the one the license is owned by, and it still says the license code is already associated with another account. Shame they haven't fixed this yet when it clearly was an issue in last year's TT as well.
Just for clarification, this is an issue for people who originally bought the CD version, and are trying to use the license code that came with the purchase to *download* from the website a second, digital copy of the software to an additional computer, likely to a computer that doesn't have a disk drive. We are using the correct account, the account that is associated with the license code, and we should be able to download a second copy of the software onto an additional computer without the cd, but we are getting the error "this license code is associated with a different account." This is a TT bug that needs to be fixed.
In 2022, if I have a initially started my return on a Windows machine, and I was to download TT to a mac, I get the message.
Do you have the CD or buy the download? The download is only for Windows or Mac. Try calling in and asking for the Mac download.

Then to move from Windows to Mac.....
What I would do is just copy the whole Turbo Tax folder that is under your Documents. That should be where the .tax files and pdf files are stored. Copy that folder to a flash drive or best yet is to burn it to a CD or DVD and then you will have a backup of them. Then on the new computer copy the folder (or files) from the flash drive to your Documents folder.
The programs need to be installed from the CD or download them again. You don't need to install them unless you need to amend or open a return. They only support the last 3 years so you might not be able to update older years or download any state programs you need.
After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to File-New Tax Return).
Then go to FILE -Open and find your return.
See this article on how to move your tax return to another computer…….
If you are moving to a Mac from Windows or to Windows from Mac you will need to install the right program. If you have the CD it has both windows and Mac programs on it. If you downloaded the program you might need to call in and ask for the other download. Unless you have both downloads in your account already.
Thank you for your response. It's the calling in that has me frustrated. I'm not sure what to say or poke when the automated system asks me to describe my problem. I really want to speak to a support person.

You can try this: When it asks for your issue, just say "installation." It will then say it can text or email you some instructions. Either say "no", or say "Customer Support", and it should ask you for your name and email address before transferring you to an agent..
Once you have opened the product CD you will be unable to return it for a refund.

An occasional retailer might take it back (I think Costco might, for instance.) However, if a retailer won't refund your product purchase, you can use the online refund request form. TurboTax has a 60-day satisfaction guarantee for the desktop software (CD/download) no matter if purchased from TurboTax directly, a retailer, or authorized reseller.
FAQ: How do I request a refund for my TurboTax product?
That worked. The TT support people had to send me a link that I could use to download a Mac version. Onward and upward.

Great! I'm glad it helped you connect with them. Good luck.
