@allenakal75 You are adding on to a very long thread full of posts from many users.   No one from this forum can call you.  In fact the filter protected you by removing your phone number so that you will be contacted by some scammer who might see it here on this public site.   Do you have a tax question you need help with?

What does a senior citizen in the state of North Carolina need in order to file taxes if they are retired?

There is nothing special that a senior citizen needs in order to file a NC return, other than income.  If you meet the filing thresholds you are required to file a return. Social security income in NC is not taxable, however, pensions, 401K and other retirement income is taxable.

I completed my IRS, SC and NC taxes with Turbotax in late March, 2022. Later I learned I had made three errors in the IRS Tax Return. Today, April 6, 2022, I brought up my Turbotax information, made the three corrections and sent them by electronically to the IRS, SC and NC. I then received rejections from the IRS, SC , and NC. 

 

The errors made were: 

1. My wife's Social Security number. I transposed two numbers.

2. I inserted incorrect numbers for my wife's Social Security Benefits.

3. I inserted incorrect my wife's Social Security Voluntary FICA.

 

My wife and I submitted our taxes as jointly. 

My name is Darrel W. Staat and my wife's name is Beverly A. Staat.

I am working full time and my wife is retired.

 

How can I correct the three errors?

I did my daughters tax returns last year.  They had to be mailed.  They just opened them this year.  She didn't sign them so they sent them back.  She signed and returned a couple months ago.  They haven't processed her taxes from last year yet so I don't think they have her 2020 AGI.  When I put in what is in the tax return it keeps getting rejected.  Is there a way to efile without the AGI?

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2020 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

We tried to efile our tax return and it has been rejected by both Federal and State.  This is the second year in a row this has happened.  Last year we contacted you and know one could figure out why it wouldn't submit.  Again, we have the same trouble, it keeps highlighting the AGI and it is correct and your system said it was correct.  It also highlights my pin number which is correct.

 If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2020 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2020 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

 

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

Why can we not speak to a customer service representative.  The automated person keeps hanging up on us.  Also tells us we are using a free account, which we are not and then hangs up.  We need an answer to a question, but your system does not allow anyone to get to customer service without going through this inane automated thing which does not understand anything we are asking.

I am having trouble completing my tax return.  It seems that the computer keeps asking me questions it has never asked before and I don't know the answers to.  Also I have tried to delete a form in the 1099 section because I initiated it by mistake but it won't go away.

I sold my primary residence home in 2021.   TT will not file my return.  It shows the Adjusted Basis of Home Sold Worksheet, line A1, Alternate Minimum Tax depreciations allowed or allowable on prior returns in RED.  What do I enter in the space provided?  Thanks

While doing taxes, I made a mistake in entering 1099-R forms.  I had to enter one more form than last year.  I made a mistake and entered a request for 2 more forms.  I was unable to delete the extra  form.  I tried about 5 or 6 times and it kept coming back until I finally ignored the error message.  The software finally accepted my work and said my work was OK and let me sumit my taxes to the IRS and the state of Virginia.  so I think I don't have any problem any more.  BUT I haven't gotten a notification that my tax forms were accepted by the IRS yet.
