When I opened the TT program it asks for information to "register" the product, BUT it only asks for an email address, not a TT account user ID. So, I have 2 or 3 TT accounts with the same email address, I can login to 2 of the accounts but not the 3rd (forgot the password and trying to get that recovered is yet another huge pain), thus I cannot determine what TT "account" the product was actually registered to. Anyone with suggestions please help. Thanks.

Felt obligation to put my comment here. When you call TurboTax and tell your situation, depending on who are talking to. My first two TT support representatives had no clues to solve my issue. The last call with (Stephanie W) was very good and she knew my issue immediately, resolved my issue.
But, the point is that you, nor I, nor anyone else should have to keep calling TT support 3 or 4 or 5 or more times in hopes of reaching a competent CSR.
I purchased the CD from Best Buy and have downloaded it on my windows machine using the CD. I now have tried to download it on my Mac using the online method and get the message "The license code has already been associated with an account". So, I call support and stay on the phone with them for over 30 minutes. He informs me that I will have to pay to get a new code and then will get a refund. I am beyond furious as this is the second year in a row that this has happened. to me.
I highly recommend you invest in an inexpensive External DVD CD Drive, Zacro USB 3.0 CD Burner Drive PC Laptop ... they have them at amazon.
I had the same issue with TT Home & Business. My wife is a PC user with a CD drive, I am a Mac user without.
In previous years we had bought the CD from Target, wife used the CD to load Turbo Tax and I downloaded mine from the Intuit amount online. This year, I receive the "License code associated to another account....."
message.
I had to call customer support and they solved the issue rather quickly, although their scripted response seem to place the blame on the purchaser. " You can only use the product for PC or MAC, not both. You have misread the packaging".
The box clearly states Windows AND Mac, and has operated this way in previous years.
I was sent a link to download the MAC versions of the FED and State returns quickly and the issue was resolved, but the extent that Intuit went to to deflect the blame to the purchaser will be remembered next tax season.
My experience too. I won't be purchasing TurboTax in the future. I contacted customer support, as was suggested by others and wasted over and hour to get less than satisfactory results. Here is the the response I sent to the follow-up survey:

The poster of this thread explains the issue clearly.

I spent over an hour with support trying to get download links for TurboTax Deluxe with State. A product I purchased retail with CD for Windows and Mac. I was treated as though I was trying to get something for free that I should be paying for. Hello, I already paid for it. Finally they generated an email with a link for Mac, which now shows in my Intuit.com account. When I asked for the Windows link (which I was able to get for previous years when registering the code), I was flatly denied. Wow, just wow. This will be remembered next year when I weigh my options for tax preparation software. Don't appreciate being treated like a thief. Thanks for nothing.
@BadBiscuit @MT62 You can get an inexpensive external drive. People are having luck installing the same CD on both Windows and Mac. It doesn't work to install on the same OS but works to install on a different OS. And the new thing is if you first install from the CD you can't use the download (except for calling in).
See this FAQ. It says....you can download your software directly from TurboTax. But, keep in mind, you can't use both the CD and the download — you must use one or the other.

So you think it is ok to state, "... you can't use both the CD and the download" in an FAQ on Intuit's website, but not on the retail package purchased? It seems like the damage is already done once the issue is encountered and the FAQs are being searched. Good way to piss off your customer though. Then when you blame and waste their time on the phone upon calling in to customer support, that just adds insult to injury.
Sure, most technical folks can transfer the install files from the CD to the computer as others have pointed out, so what is the point of this restriction. Is this really preventing piracy or software sharing? No. The five activations are what does that. This just irritates the customer and drives them to the competition. But what do I know, I'm just a customer with more than one computer (i.e. a desktop with CD drive and laptop without), trying to use the product I purchased, and have used for multiple years. In my case it was the last straw. I'm done using TurboTax. Perhaps others can shrug it off.
VolvoGirl's response parrots the TurboTax support script. "Not OUR fault. YOU didn't understand the packaging".
As for purchasing additional hardware to install the product......
We'll save the money and purchase a different tax prep software for next year.
No I agree. The packaging doesn't say that. Last year I installed from the CD but couldn't then download to my laptop so I asked for the download. This year I knew to download it the first time instead of using the CD. So then it was in my download account and I can download to my laptop no problem. The only problem with downloads is it is only for Windows or Mac.
If you don't want to buy a CD drive which is handy for other things too like burning backups maybe you know someone who has one you can borrow. OR Another user posted this. "If you have a computer with a CD drive or know someone, you can try copying the CD to a USB flash drive and use that to install the program. " But I don't know if you use Windows to copy it if you will get the Mac install file. Maybe.

lmao turbotax is trying to make it difficult for everyone, what a mess. their service has really gone downhill. they're also getting sued by the FTC.
If you can, I would ask someone to share the .dmg install file with you. There's no reason you should need an account for this. I uploaded it to Google Drive and think you should be able to download with comment access:[removed]
lmao of course they would remove the link. see my tweet here https://twitter.com/ctrlaltdj/status/[phone number removed]8779648?s=20&t=kymvxsdHpzYiMksWPizjtA TT, you gonna remove that too?
It is best to only download files provided from support or a verified source.
We have removed the link in the post you provided. @Henry111
