Can you help me access an account to retrieve a tax return that was put on extension. I need to complete before next deadline & I have the info to do that.
I purchased the 2024 TT online, which by the way I had more trouble with TT this year than any of the other 4 years. I need help for something I paid $100 for. It should be FREE.
You get the run around on the internet. (I have a license code to verify I paid for TT.)
They want me to pay for an expert in which I don't need. I just need to access Matthew & Annie's tax return that was put on extension to complete & file. I paid to do the tax return.
What's the deal: Why do you get to keep my tax info & not allow me to access when needed.
I called [phone number removed] & every time I give an answer I get "My wires got crossed I can't understand you?"
I have been with TT for 5 years. This is the first year I have had issues doing my taxes & trying to get help after the tax season. This is really poor service.
Please respond with help to access the above tax return. Thank you, Cheryl Rupp, [phone number removed] or email me at [email address removed].
@carbowl You have the 16digit License Code? Then you bought the Desktop program and need to install it on your computer. Then your returns are only on your computer, not online. You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it. You can move your online return into the Desktop program. What version did you use the prior years, Online or Desktop?

It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

If you can get into your Online account then click on Add a State to let you back into your return. Oh and if you did buy the Desktop program you can not apply it to the Online version and will have to pay the fees for Online again. You can get a refund for the Desktop program.
If you have a license code then you purchased desktop download software, which you need to download and use from your own hard drive. When you have desktop software, the tax files are stored only on your own hard drive or any back up device you use like a flash drive. They are not stored on any online account.

I always use Home & Business. This is the first year I had to use the internet version. Prior years I always bought the CD. I could access my tax returns anytime I wanted. I'm not familiar with the internet version. I'm lost & frustrated. I don't understand why someone can't call me. They have all my info.

TT shows up as an icon on my screen. I click on the icon but none of my taxes are there. I just have to keep clicking and not get any results.
I have no idea what I am doing.

For 2024 you had to buy the Download instead of a CD. It is the same as the CD version. You just install it a different way. You download the program, install it and then Activate it with the License Code. Sounds like you didn't get it installed right and probably ended up in the Online web version. The Online web/browser version is NOT the same as the Desktop program you install on your computer. Was there a black menu bar on the left side with the menu items, Federal, State, File etc. That is Online. The Desktop program is blue across the top and the menu items like Federal, State, Review, File go across the top.
I see people all the time that have bought the Download Desktop Software but then somehow ending up using the Online version and didn't know it. If that happened to you, you can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info.
Did you buy the Desktop program but accidentally get into the Online version? You need to download and install the Desktop program. Do you need help installing the Desktop program? How to get started with the Desktop program, install and activate it

Oh you did get it installed and Activated? The program runs like last year? Then if you started in the Online version you can switch to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online. How to switch…….
