Yeah, filing by mail costs only a postage stamp, but it takes FOREVER to get your refund - 12 weeks or so.
I tried what's on Line 7 page 2 of my last year return, NO GO, I tried 0 also NO GO. I am really irritated as I paid 40.00 for this to be E-Filed and now I am out $40.00.

The TurboTax online editions do not charge an e-file fee, federal or state tax returns. The TurboTax account fee is for the use of the software to assist in completing at tax return. The account fees are the same whether a tax return is e-filed or printed for mailing.
The issue with the AGI occurs every tax year for some taxpayers. When neither the correct AGI or entering a 0 for the AGI will be accepted by the IRS, then the only option is to print and mail the tax return.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online...
My 2016-2018 taxes have been done with Turbo tax.
My AGI is what I say it is from my 2018 return.
Ive tried the 0 remedy but that’s being rejected by the IRS.
the only difference is; my husband passed away during 2019.
There are also issues with the username/password (different problem) getting into the IRS website.
seems like everything is goofy yesterday and today.
question for the group:
Will my 2019 return be “flagged” in any way if I just print/mail it in?
i much prefer to e-file.
PITA
@Kmic No your tax return will not be 'flagged" if you mail a paper tax return. Millions of tax returns are mailed to the IRS each year.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online...
Since your tax return included a deceased person the IRS usually rejects these returns for e-filing.
See this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/list-of-available-free-file-fillable-forms
Decedent Returns- The program might not efile a decedent return. If the Primary or Secondary taxpayer on the return is a decedent, it may be necessary to mail in the return.
I get the same rejected e-mail for Fed then comes the state because of the Fed.
When I open up Turbo Tax, it shows the wrong amount for AGI and oddly it says my spouse's AGI but I'm filling Jointly. Anyway, I put in the correct AGI from 2018 and it gets rejected again, but still shows the 1st wrong amount. Also, while e-filing the very first time, it didn't even ask for 2018 AGI. I still don't see where it was ever requested in the 1st place or how to fix it in the normal process of e-filing.
You can find your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by:
To enter your correct AGI in TurboTax, click on File from the menu on the left-hand side and go through all the steps.
Please see this TurboTax Article for more information.
They don’t help
If the IRS will not accept you 2018 AGI and you have verified that it is correct then the IRS for some reason is unable to verify your AGI. Your should file a paper return by mail. The IRS does not need to verify your AGI when you file by mail.
Thanks. I must have had the same issue as @Kmic, as my wife passed away last September. Entering 0 for AGI did not work for me either, and I was 100% certain I entered the correct AGI initially anyway. I put my return in the mail today.
I don't want to do email. I selected Turbo to do this online! Please help with these rejections. Why do the Feds and State not accept numbers (AGi) already accepted in the past year? How do I get beyond this. Please, earn the money I just sent you.
@Ladymarsh23 Did you spouse pass away last year too? Then you have to print and mail your return. There is no such thing as to email your tax return. Did you try using 0 for the AGI? That sometimes works.
The Online fees are only to prepare the tax return whether you efile or print and mail. Not to guarantee it will be accepted.
I read the link that supposedly says you can't efile if your spouse died during that tax year. Nice try, but there was NOTHING on that page about deceased spouses.
I did find this link, however, which said there shouldn't be a problem efiling for a deceased taxpayer.
https://www.irs.gov/faqs/irs-procedures/signing-the-return/signing-the-return
Furthermore, I have read forum posts on this issue, and no one else is having a problem filing a joint return with a deceased spouse as long as the SS# and date of death are correct.
More annoyed by the minute. My return consists of a number of forms, and filing by mail is going to be a pain. And I want my refund sooner than (much) later.
After all the delays and rejections, I filed via FreeTaxUSA using exactly the same information. My return was accepted within a couple of hours.
THE PROBLEM IS WITH TURBOTAX.
Did putting 0 work for you? Mine got rejected 3xs.
