@johntsteiner I am running into this myself for the first time and requested a copy of my transcript. What did you find out?

That I'll be waiting five to ten days [likely business days] to get the IRS version of my AGI. I haven't gotten it yet, and from the timestamp of my post I'd say anywhere from tomorrow to late into next weeks.

Okay, so funny story- not really, but never mind that s**t. My Schedule E shows my royalties three times over, two as rent for properties [hint: I don't own any properties, or else I wouldn't live in this shoe box of an apartment], and added them all up. Hilariously- also not actually, the tripled total still would be less than the amount I had paid Tax ACT to file a Schedule E when their software last year refused to let me manually enter my book royalties into the form despite their being a tab for that.

So, this is something I can't blame on Turbo Tax at least, and reaffirms why I'll never use g****mn Tax ACT again. Not having a mortgage, a credit card, or a student loan, I couldn't get the IRS to electronically get my AGI for the year in question, because debit cards don't count for s**t in this century.

But, when the mailed version of the documents came in today [per timestamp of this reply] I found out the above goof from my Schedule E. Can't say if your problem is the same, but I'm betting it's some Mickey Mouse thing jacking with your AGI number that you likely didn't cause for yourself.

With the update my 2018 taxes were accepted by the IRS.

Wow! That sounds like a mess. I'm looking over all my tax documentation and can find nothing. I tried to request my transcripts online using my social and my current address, no go. Tried my last address before I moved late last year, no dice there either. I have a sneaking suspicion that you are right and somehow the IRS screwed up my information. Must be the reason why I had to create a new TurboTax account even though nothing changed.

Thanks for the update @johntsteiner  and I hope it's a quick resolution for you.

I can attest that the 0 option works.  I tried numerous times to get my AGI in and after inserting 0 it was accepted.  Weird but works.

Nope, not TurboTax.  The rejection is from the IRS and only the IRS.  They probably have a mistake in their systems based on your SS number and name.

You can try using a 0 (zero) for the AGI and re-file.  If that also fails then you will have to print and mail your tax return.

Should we put "0" for both state and federal? This just happened to me so I was going to try this to see if it works.

Occasionally, the IRS record for some reason is missing, and zero works.

If that still doesn't work, you will, unfortunately, not be able to e-file as there is no way to fix the AGI mismatch error.

If you haven't yet double-checked your IRS transcript, please try that first before you give up!

You can check your transcript here: Get your IRS transcript.

This has never happened to me before until this year. I used the AGI from my taxes last year that turbo tax showed. It shows my whole tax return from last year. But the IRS is rejecting it even with it being the correct number. Should I call the IRS or just try putting in 0 and seeing if that works like it did for others?

Calling the IRS would be a total waste of time.  The error is coming from an IRS database and there are no IRS agents that can correct that issue.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

After almost 12 hours, I was able to get my tax accepted. IRS was rejecting for return because of AGI number for my spouse. I entered correct number but got denied 6 times. Turbo kicked me out because of multiple rejection.  so I went to use Jackson Hewitt efile which raised my refund with extra $1000 (surprise of the year).

Long story short: I entered correct number for my AGI and entered 0 for my spouse -booom - accepted. Good luck
