The TurboTax online editions do not charge an e-file fee, federal or state tax returns. The TurboTax account fee is for the use of the software to assist in completing at tax return. The account fees are the same whether a tax return is e-filed or printed for mailing.
The issue with the AGI occurs every tax year for some taxpayers. When neither the correct AGI or entering a 0 for the AGI will be accepted by the IRS, then the only option is to print and mail the tax return.
