I mailed in a new address form 8822.
no, I changed my address after I filed.
No, TurboTax does not forward address changes to the IRS. If you filed an income tax return with one address, then moved, the IRS has your old address and your stimulus check was mailed to the old address unless you have direct deposit.
If you don't get your stimulus check, here is the IRS statement:
Sorry to tell you but the 8822 can take months to process so the chances of it happening in the next 2 weeks is remote ... put in a forwarding address with the post office if you can otherwise you will apply for the missing payment on your return that you can file later this month.
Trying to find out what address the IRS has for my stimulus payment
Am a non filer
You can go to the official IRS website, and sign in to verify your address. If you don't have an account, create one. Keep in mind, however, the IRS is not allowing taxpayers to update the address.
Go to IRS View Your Account Information.
The IRS updated Get My Payment (GMP) for individuals who are receiving the second Economic Impact Payment on January 5, 2021. If you checked GMP on or after January 5 then:
• If GMP reflects a direct deposit date and partial account information, then your payment is deposited there.
• If GMP reflects a date your payment was mailed, it may take up to 3 – 4 weeks for you to receive the payment. Watch your mail carefully for a check or debit card. (See the FAQ for EIP Card)
• If GMP shows "Payment Status #2 – Not Available," then you will not receive a second Economic Impact Payment and instead you need to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 22020 Tax Return.
If GMP reflects a direct deposit date and partial account information, then your payment is deposited there.
• If GMP reflects a date your payment was mailed, it may take up to 3 – 4 weeks for you to receive the payment. Watch your mail carefully for a check or debit card. (See the FAQ for EIP Card)
• If GMP shows "Payment Status #2 – Not Available," then you will not receive a second Economic Impact Payment and instead you need to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 Tax Return.
Because of the speed at which the law required the IRS to issue the second round of Economic Impact Payments, some payments may have been sent to an account that may be closed or, is or no longer active, or unfamiliar. By law, the financial institution must return the payment to the IRS; they cannot hold and issue the payment to an individual when the account is no longer active. If Get My Payment shows "Payment Status #2 – Not Available" you will not receive a second EIP.
The IRS advises people that if they don't receive their Economic Impact Payment, they should file their 2020 tax return electronically and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their tax return to get their payment and any refund as quickly as possible.
How do I know if the IRS has my correct address?
@bagwell68 The IRS has the address you used on your most recent tax return unless you have sent the IRS a change of address form since then.
You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.
Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

How do I find out what address the IRS has on file for me for my second stimulus check
@Ph49 The first and second stimulus payments were based on the info from your 2019 return, so that is the address the IRS has for you currently.
Yes, when you file your 2020 return, the IRS will have your current address from the return you filed with TurboTax.
If you did not receive your second stimulus payment, you can claim it on your 2020 return as a Recovery Rebate Credit.

To the person posting their address here, you're sharing your home address with the entire internet, this isn't read or modified by the IRS. It's for users to ask questions within the community. You should not give out personal info on internet forms
@Lexie2007eb Don't post your address here. IRS doesn't see or moderate this page but millions of internet users do to ask questions of eachother and you should remove your personal info. Just trying to help 🙂
