How do I view, download, or print a prior-year tax return?

Here's how to view, download, and print your prior-year tax returns. You can access returns for the past seven years.

First time signing in this year

Sign in to your TurboTax account and select Continue on the screen showing your prior-year summary. Make sure you're using the same TurboTax account (user ID) as in previous years.
On the second screen showing product and pricing, scroll down and select Your tax returns & documents.
Select the year you want, then select Download/print return (PDF).
- If the year you're looking for isn't there, it might be in a different account. Go here to find all of your accounts. One of them should have the return you're looking for.

If you've started your return already

Sign in to your TurboTax account. Make sure you're using the same TurboTax account (same user ID) as in previous years.

There are two ways to get your prior-year returns:

Select Documents from the menu, use the dropdown menu to choose the tax year you want, and select Download tax PDF.
On Tax home, scroll down and select Your tax returns & documents. Select the year you want and select Download/print return (PDF).

If the year you're looking for isn't there, it might be in a different account. Go here to find all of your accounts. One of them should have the return you're looking for.

What if I used TurboTax Business?

Follow these steps to download a prior year return:

Sign in to your Intuit Account.
Select Data & Privacy.
Select Download.
Read through the screens and select Continue.
On the Select the data you want to download screen, select the applicable business under TurboTax Business and select Continue.
Review your request and select Continue.
You’ll get an email once your data is ready. This usually takes up to 15 days.

What if I used TurboTax Desktop Business?

The TurboTax Desktop Business product is designed exclusively for the Windows platform. By default, tax returns filed with the Desktop product are saved to your local folder (Documents > TurboTax).

Follow these steps to copy a prior-year tax return into the current year's TurboTax Desktop Business product:

Open TurboTax Desktop Business on your Windows desktop.
Create a New Tax Return.
On the Let's Transfer Your Last Year's Return screen, select Browse Files.
Select your last year's tax return file in the file browser.
