Turbotax 2021 Will Not Open

I purchased Turbotax Premier 2021 e download from Costco. MacOS Big Sur 13.6, newer Macbook pro. Installed the software fine first use, logged in, started return and saved progress. I went in this morning to try to open the program and work on it again and it will not open. Double-click on icon, goes to pop up where the program tries to do its update and then just closes. I have deleted it, reinstalled it, restarted my laptop, same behavior. I had this same exact issue with Turbotax last year, which support was not able to address. I gave it a chance this year thinking surely they had figured this out by now. I am a loyal Turbotax user. I really do not want to go to a different program; however, I cannot go through this every tax season!

Most users have no problems with buying TurboTax from Costco or other retailers. Your computer does not seem to work with the Costco download.

Since your purchase from Costco is not working on your computer, I would recommend that you purchase your program directly from Intuit. Use this link to request a refund for your Costco purchase. How do I get a refund for a TurboTax product? (intuit.ca)

Costco download for TurboTax Premier 2021 does not work. Amazon CD for TurboTax Premier 2021 does not work. Download from Intuit - TurboTax Premier 2021does not work. Mac OS is Catalina 10.15 - same error every time. Application transfers or appears to transfer, Clicking on TurboTax 2021- "Application Not responding". Security is correctly set to allow downloads.

Was trying to install TurboTax 2021 Premier on Mac OS 10.15 - supposedly a supported platform. I tried all the fixes, disabling my virus protection, opening firewall etc. Also tried from a CD as well as downloads. Finally gave up and tried H&R Block - this also did not work, almost same results. Got a refund on that and downloaded TurboTax Premier 2021 to our Dell laptop/Windows 10 and it appears to work fine. Was able to move my Mac TurboTax returns over to the Dell and all info was captured for this year's return. This is obviously a problem with Mac OS Catalina 10.15. I opened a problem with the Mac Community forum, but will probably not open a ticket with Apple as I've burned enough hours fooling with this anyway. Thanks.

I have used Turbotax for about 20 years. It has always loaded up in about 2 min. I've spent over 2 hours and nothing works.

May I ask what version of TurboTax are you having issues with? Is it TurboTax Online or a download version?

i have turbotax 2021 premier for Mac. same problem.was able to open initially but now I can not open it. Application tries but fails. No error messages.

I completed my return on Feb 28. Would not open this a.m. when I was preparing to send it. Tried everything. I have a desk top Mac using macOS Bir Sure 11.6.4

I downloaded the 2021 program last November when it was received; however i did not enter any data other than my name. address and pertinent data. I proceeded to trash the mailing sleeve several weeks ago. Started to enter data for Turbo Tax, learned the code was on the mailing sleeveand could not open the program without the License Code information now required, now but was not earlier. How do I proceed. I certainly do not want to buy another program.

If you will clear all of your cache folders and restart your computer it will allow TurboTax 2021 to fully open and let you update the software and then you will be able to use the software. I had the same issue and got no support from Turbotax, so I called Apple and they had me create a new user with admin rights and then try to run the application and it opened and worked perfectly, so they then had me delete all my cache files on my original user login and it worked fine.

I tried your suggestion and it didn’t work, it was only after I cleared all my cache files not just Intuit/TurboTax files that I was able to get it to work. Not saying that your solution won’t work for most users, but for me there was something else keeping mine from running.

After downloading and installing, I had an issue opening TurboTax. After rebooting, reloading, uninstalling, security patch, etc... it turns out my issue was with an open Apple Alert message, which had nothing to do with my installation, rather it is a warning I never hit "OK" to. Turns out, TurboTax uses Apple Alert messaging service in which you have to select "OK" to open the application. Apple Messaging did not show the TurboTax Alert message as it was queued behind a different applications Alert. Once I cleared the other applications alert message, the TurboTax Alert message showed up, I clicked "OK" and then TurboTax launched. Ugh. Not an issue with TurboTax or Apple I suppose, but it would have been nice if Apple didn't queue messages in the Apple Alert messaging system.

I have a simiar issue: I cannot get TT21 to activate. Purchased download from Amazon, uninstalled 3 times, tried to restart my modem AND remove virus protection and I can do nothing.
