I have a 2019 return that I can open up in the 2019 tax files, but I can't see it when I try to transfer info to 2020. I entered the file name info in search, but it can't fined it.

If you can open it in the 2019 program then save the .taxfile to a place you can find it like your desktop where it is easy to find. It cannot be on a removable storage medium or backup drive or the program will not see it.
On the first screen when you start TurboTax, click "Start a New Return." The next screen will show the 2019 files that it can find. If the file you are looking for isn't there, click Browse. That will give you a regular Open dialog. Navigate to the file you want to transfer from, and click Open.

Thank you. I will try that. I probably wasn't putting in the full file name.
I did 2019 in Windows and doing 2020 on my Mac. When I tried to load the .tax file file into Turbo Tax 2020 it said the file could not be transferred? Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?
@mcjaksich Please see the TurboTax FAQ How do I transfer last year's return into the 2020 TurboTax for Mac software? for assistance transferring your 2019 tax return.

Help
@eealtshuler Are you using the Online version for 2020? What did you use for 2019? If you used Turbo Tax you should be transferring from the .tax2019 file not the pdf. Where is your 2019 return?
If you log into the same account it should automatically transfer.
It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online.
The transfer appears to be working correctly; however, no information transfers. What do you recommend?
Transfer From/To Online Or Desktop program? Do you have the .tax2019 file?
Here's an idea. Do you still have 2019 installed? Try opening 2019 program and see if you can get your 2019 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. Then save it again with a name and place you can find. Go to File - Save As.
Can I download or print a copy of all the information that is transferred from 2019 to 2020
Sherman
You are not able to download only the information that is transferred from your 2019 tax return to your 2020 tax return. You would have to access the completed 2019 return.
We'll transfer over 100 fields to help you get a head start on your return, including:

None of my 2019 tax returns that I did on my mac from downloaded turbotax files are transferring to my 2020 new returns. I renamed them with the .tax2019 and it say they can not transfer can not occur because a error occurred opening the file. What can I do? I do my and my sons taxes every year and now.
I have to do it from scratch.
I used the desktop software for 2019 and had to paper file due to waiting too long to finish. Then, the Computer hard drive died. I have the pdf saved on a USB. Can I upload it to the Turbo Tax online small business software? I already entered 2020 information but the 2019 data is wrong. If I transfer from 2019 pdf will I lose all the data I already entered?
