“This is just timing and should not cause tooo much harm.”
Thank you for your response but I’ll believe it when I see it after trying to submit for 2021! After six rejections I put 2019’s A.G.I. at $0.00 and was accepted. If that is one of the IRS’s “protections” in place to ferret out identity theft then it is a joke. It’s harder to know someone’s exact 2019 AGI than just typing in zero.
I have tried re-entering the AGI from line 11 and retyping in my pin numbers from last year. I still keep getting rejected return. To print out and mail it is over 50 pages and I find that impractical. How do I fix this issue -- that shouldn't be an issue, since all the info is correct x 3.
I tried calling this number that shows on the screen - [phone number removed] and the computer keeps looking for my refund status instead of rejected reason to help me. I've tried 3 times now tonight
The support video did not help. I did check all the information x 3 and re-entered it and refiled each time. I checked against my 2020 return as well on IRS.gov. the error is IND-032-04 as listed above. I do not want to mail it in. I have never had this issue before.
@lborne5907 Reject error code IND-032-04 indicates the primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match what the IRS has on record. Please confirm that you've followed all steps listed here. Keep the following in mind:
If you’ve tried everything and nothing works, you will need to file a paper return by printing out copies of your federal and state returns and mailing them. We’ll include File by Mail Instructions on where to send your returns and what forms, if any, you need to include.
Refer to the following Help Article for more information: What if I entered the correct AGI and I'm still getting an e-file reject?
That did not work. Someone in community suggested putting 0 in the AGI and that worked!
I got this same reply both last year 2020 and this year, tax year 2021. "IND-032-04 "SpousePriorYearPin" or "SpousePriorYearAGIAmt" in the Return Header must match the e-file database. I know that it picked up the correct PIN so it must be the "AGIAmt". I saw a note about putting in a "0" in a box so I decided to try that in the spouses box, even though Turbotax put in the last years AGIAmt. IT WORKED. My tax return was accepted by the IRS. We will wait and see now if any further questions or problems arise.
Glad it worked!
How do I get 2020 SpousePriorYearPIN or SpousePriorYearAGIAmt or was 2020 return filed with SpousePriorYearPIN
When I entered a 0 for the AGI it took it? Do t know why but there must be a bug
I had this same problem again in 2021. I went to the irs website and requested a ID PIN. Make an account Me ID using state ID. It scans your photo and your face. And then gives you the 6 digit number. Add it to the signature area of you tax form. It is listed under other tax situations in TurboTax. And my e-file was accepted.
You should be able to use the FAQ link provided below to assist you with where you can get the information needed to fix the rejection and be able to refile:
How do I fix e-file reject IND-031-04 or IND-032-04?
I filed my 2020 taxes with Turbotax and I prepared and submitted my 2021 taxes with Turbotax. In both years my spouse and I filed a joint return. When I submitted my 2021 taxes I received a text that my return was rejected. Turbotax instructions reported the rejection was based on code IND-032-04. The error states my Spouses AGI 2020 doesnt match what the IRS has in their database. This value was an automatic transfer by Turbotax and I confirmed it is correct. My spouses PIN from 2020 was also an automatic transfer by turbotax and I have confirmed it is also correct. I have followed Turbo tax instructions, reviewed the rejection and checked my returns and confirmed both our AGI and PINS are correct and consistent with 2020 taxes. I have resubmitted my returns on Turbotax 3 times and been rejected 3 times.
If the 2020 adjusted gross income (AGI) you entered for yourself (or for your spouse if you filed jointly) doesn't match what the IRS has in their database, you can correct it. You will find the correct AGI on line 11 of your 2020 tax return. Be sure to use the exact AGI listed on your form. Don't split or round the number.
Please see the information here to correct your AGI or Pin on your tax return.
When I entered 0 for last years AGI it took it and was accepted. Don’t know why but someone else relied and told me that and it worked. It must be some bug
