I need to do my taxes from last year
If you mean the 2020 return :
If you mean the 2019 return :
You cannot prepare a 2019 return in Online TurboTax, which is only for 2020 returns. To prepare a 2019 return with TurboTax you would need to purchase 2019 desktop software (CD/download) and install it on your computer.
You can purchase 2019 software as a download from TurboTax here:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
Or you may still be able to find it discounted as a CD or download at an authorized reputable retailer like Amazon. If purchased outside of TurboTax, be aware that the Deluxe Edition comes in 2 versions--one that is a combo Federal and State version, and one that is Federal-only. Basic Edition does not include a state return and cannot import from ItsDeductible. CAUTION: There are Internet scam sites selling pirated software or trying to get your personal info, plant malware, etc. Only purchase from an authorized retailer, which are large companies like Amazon, Staples, Office Depot, Sams, Costco, NewEgg, etc. Some of these may no longer be selling 2019 product.
The 2019 return cannot be efiled. It has to be printed, signed, dated, and mailed. It's recommended to mail by a method that has tracking such as certified mail, priority mail, etc. Mail the Federal return to the IRS, and mail the state return (if applicable) to the state tax agency.
I filed my taxes through turbo tax, now I have numerous emails from intuit and mint. I do not understand what mint is or why I received emails regarding all my money in one place and trying to confirm my mint account. I also received the same type of message from intuit. I have emails verifying my taxes have been filed for both state and federal.
Using Mint is optional. Mint is an Intuit product, like TurboTax, and is a free financial platform. It is available to anyone and helps people take control of their finances. Mint offers several features to help keep finances in check, such as Track & Pay Bills, Budget Tracking, Financial Advice, and Investment Tracking. In just minutes, customers can see where their money is going and can get ideas on how to stretch their money further. Please see https://mint.intuit.com/ for more information regarding Mint.
Filed through intuit/ TurboTax. Got rejected
You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.
Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed. Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead. What is the rejection code or rejection message?
If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2020 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2020 AGI might not be in the IRS system. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

- Where is my refund
Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
