Still getting the error on the desktop version. I've been waiting on a fix for this for weeks.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for the Deductible Mortgage Interest Worksheet issue - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/homeowner-tax-credits-and-deductions/help/why-isn-t-my-deductible-...
It doesn't appear to be a "resolved" issue, if people are still encountering this error.

@j42,
It is not a resolved issue. It is very much an open issue.
I started this thread, and I didn't mark it resolved. Looks like on these forums, people who have "expert" status can mark things resolved.
This sentence below that keeps getting offered on that link is not a resolution. While I really do appreciate that there is a formal response from TurboTax on this matter and acknowledgement that this is an issue. I really think it would help all of us who paid for your software to know exactly 'When" will Intuit and TurboTax resolve this for consumers? I know this worksheet along with 8911 and 6251 are working on your Professional versions that you offer to CPA and Tax preparers. You should note that still more than 57% of Americans filed their taxes directly, not via a CPA or 3rd Party, using SOFTWARES like TurboTax. That is a huge customer base that is being ignored.
This sentence on that link is not a resolution. Could you please do better?
"Some TurboTax customers may still be experiencing a form availability error that was resolved 02/17/2022 for their Deductible Mortgage Interest Worksheet, though it's past that date.
We are working to resolve this issue."
Once again the above sentence is not a resolution. It is not even a commitment to when will TurboTax provide a resolution. It is an acknowledgement that TurboTax is aware and working on it. We all would like to know "when"?
In addition to answering the above question, I'd like to know if the TT expert on this thread endorses combining 1098s as has been suggested.
Others on this thread have stated it is illegal to do so (combine 1098's together). TurboTax management are aware of the issue and have stated today that a fix should be out by the end of this month. There is a link above in a post from them where you can go to get registered to get notifications about this issue.
I have been in contact with TurboTax upper management and they have stated that a solution will be available by the end of the month. They are now very much aware of the situation and I trust what they are stating. They posted a message earlier today with a link you can go to to register for notifications about this issue. I was not aware if someone has closed this incident - I agree it should not have been closed as it continues to be unresolved.
I would love to know who you spoke to in upper management. I went around with a customer service rep for 30 minutes today and was not able to get anywhere. If this is an escalated issue I would like to believe the CS reps would be aware of this and it would state so in their system. If there is additional contacts you can provide so more of us an escalate further, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
You can manually calculate all of this using IRS Publication 936.
But the problem is that because of this error, TurboTax software is not letting you file taxes, unless you do that cloodgy combination method.
The combining into one 1098 workaround, will be more than manual method because you have to enter numbers in wrong places to get right results on your final schedule.
We are all paying for a working software right? And this is why TurboTax exist to do it for you.
But if you are curious, here is the manual method.
Fill the following Table out on Page 12 (you can do it in Excel, create a row for each of the 16 lines), will take under 10 mins. Use Page 13, below this table to calcualte your average using any of the methods. I tested with the method circled in red.
Below is how to fill out the Table above:
You can see the full IRS Publication 936 by following the link.
But once again, this will let you see the numbers, but not get you to file
The whole combining of two 1098s is a tricky proposition, and I feel that TurboTax need to own that. Their whole idea behind this software product is that normal Americans without Tax knowledge can file taxes and their software will do the calculation for them.
Hope this helps anyone who wants to see what the numbers look like.
That is very encouraging, not sure if you can share the person you've been in contact with, but can you share if that is because you know someone in the firm? We all only get to talk to the call center.
Did you get your issue resolve? Can you submit or transmit your tax?
I called and got the same answer. The technical support woman said that this issue had been elevated to tier 2... but no answer yet.
Thank you for sharing this information. Our team is working to resolve an error message for the form availability of the Deductible Mortgage Interest Worksheet after the original date expected. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience this has caused. Our developers are aware of this message and working to resolve the problem.
Please do not report both homes on one Form 1098; they should each be reported on their own form.
Please see this TurboTax Help article which has a link to sign up for updates. Notifications Mortgage Interest Worksheet
Thank you for the acknowledgement and also thank you for clarity on not combining the two 1098 forms.
I do hope that by end of the month the developers can release the update for this.
Cheers
