I cannot start my state return. Every time I click "Start", it takes me through the download process to download the state return information, then returns me to the state return launch page. I have tried every step in the article titled "

and it does NOT work. What the heck is going on? Why can't you patch the product to get around this problem? Why should I have to uninstall and reinstall the product ... especially since it did not resolve the issue.
Someone please get this fixed, or I delete the product that I've been using for about 30 years and go to a competitor. This is ridiculous.

I did that. It did not work. I went to step 2 and uninstalled/reinstalled TurboTax. It did not work. I went to the next step and did a Selective Startup and ran the tool. It did not work.
This is an obvious flaw in the app. Why is it not being patched???????

Tennessee, which is where I live. I have Tennessee as my free state, and I paid for Louisiana because I help my son with his taxes, and he lives in Louisiana.
When I get to the Your State Returns page, the Louisiana button says "Edit", and the Tennessee button says "Start".
I have followed the instructions at the web page I mentioned 3 times, twice under my normal user account, and once under my administrator account. I'm on Windows 10. I am up to date on Windows patches.
Just got off the phone with support, who very quickly figured out what was wrong ... Tennessee does not require a tax return filed if your income was non-taxable (i.e., my pension), and/or you have interest or dividends earned. In prior years, the interest and dividend income was taxable but that ended starting at January 1, 2021.
Now, it would have saved me 4 phone calls to support and a lot of de-install/reboot/re-installs of TurboTax if the TurboTax product was smart enough to say: Hey, you don't have to file a return with Tennessee. Seems like that should be a priority to get fixed, because there are a LOT of folks in my situation in Tennessee.
I'm in this loop on my 2023 Turbotax. You would think that this would be fixed by now. I have downloaded the state return and it keeps asking be to download the return. It never advances. On the positive side it does recognize that I have already purchased the state file.

I am having the same problem with trying to download the Maryland state tax add on. It shows that I paid for it but I get stuck in the same loop downloading it and then opening the tax form and then having to download again. I was on the phone with customer support for 3 hours and they finally said, "oh, this extension isn't available until Feb 23 2024." Tonight (Feb 28th) I tried again and got the same problem. They also said they hadn't heard of this issue before. I tried reinstalling several times, removing the add on (even though it didn't seem to install), installing in safe mode, etc. Nothing worked.
Same issue here for Maryland!!

I was on the phone with customer service for 3.5 hours last night and they said it’s because Maryland business tax forms aren’t available until March 8th.
They told me Feb. 23 after 2.5 hours on the phone. Unbelievable. How can TurboTax not have some kind of notice or pop-up if this is the case? They don't mind taking your money.
VERY FRUSTRATED, and I have been using TurboTax for a long time.
