Yes, the temporary screen resolution change didn't work for me either.  I have to admit that I really didn't think that it should work for anyone.  I am stuck now and will have to try to get a refund (just bought the software today), and look into other income tax software.

Anyways, I'm amazed that changing the screen resolution worked for anyone - I didn't really think it should, so it must be a different variation of this problem...but read on....

My similar problem happens because I am using Norton Wifi Privacy VPN, and as long as I have that turned on, I simply cannot register TurboTax Home & Business - I put in the registration code, and then it just dies.  However, when I turn off the VPN, it works fine and I can do my taxes - but that's about all, since without a VPN I won't do my banking or anything else that I want a little bit more protected.

For my last many years as a full-time (non-contract) programmer (I retired at 50), I made quite a bit over $100K / year.  This is why.  No one was ever able to help me with my programming problems, yet I helped everyone else (and I always solved my own problems - always).   I doubt that the programmers who work on "TurboSux" Home & Business will even see this, yet more and more people will continue to complain that this program doesn't work.  It does work if you don't use a VPN.  What a silly idea they had of not allowing a VPN to be used!  It's even sillier that they didn't put in the system requirements that you cannot use a VPN!!

I was having this activation issue and found that  Microsoft Edge is the culprit.

Make sure your default browser is Chrome or Internet Explorer instead of Edge and this will resolve the activation issue.

I use Chrome as well, but my default browser was the issue which was Edge and once I changed the default to Chrome it worked.

I have a new computer and had a computer store transfer my programs & files. I cannot access TurboTax 2020 on my new computer.

You can't transfer programs.  They have to be installed on the new computer.  Do you have the Turbo Tax CD or buy the download?

Nope, not fixed! I've had to enter the Activation code multiple times (again today) - have to change resolution, and look up the code in order to enter it AGAIN. Also am unable to download data from Turbo Tax It's Deductible, even with change to resolution!

Another user posted this fix.  See if it works for you -

• change your resolution to 800 x 600 (start>setting >system resolution. once it's been changed, your screen size will look very big. REMEMBER your initial resolution setting!
• launch TT and the activation screen should launch.  copy / paste in your activation code. you should get the 'all set' green check mark
• change your resolution back to what is was originally.
