manually entering the data isn't an option. Fixing this shouldn't take long as long as they prioritize it.
it didn't work for me after more than 20 attempts. Still the same error message. We are talking about the download TT version, not the online one.
@rr49 , I used the download version and it did work for me. Repeatedly try for a few minutes without pause. That worked for me, hopefully it will work for others.
I've been trying for 30 mins, non stop, on and off and still doesn't work. This has to be fixed pranto.
When I called schwab to report the work around that worked for me (above) on the downloaded version of TurboTax they thought the issue had already been resolved so I asked them provide the steps I tool to the development team
it looks like there is something with the Schwab Eula that is causing the issue
Please see the Help Article here for further assistance with your 1099.
If this still isn't working for you, please try to utilize the workaround posted on this thread here.
I finally got it to log in after about 40 attempts. Perhaps Schwab only allows a few connections? I wonder if it works better in the middle of the night.
I'm having this issue too. This seems to be a problem on the Schwab side. I have Fidelity accounts that uploaded perfectly fine on the first try. The Schwab accounts are not loading for me.
This article doesn't help because all those settings are already set. We know what to do because we have been doing this for years. This has been working for years, and this year it fails. It's a bug.
3/6/2022 - After trying on and off for three days I finally was able to log into Schwab. Didn't do anything special. From the amount of time it took to try to log in I could have just entered all the info myself. Schwab tanks Turbotax and Quicken both! If I wasn't happy with my advisor I'd leave Schwab!
I followed the steps in the article, but they didn't solve the issue.
I'm using TT desktop on Windows 10, and tried some of the suggestions on this thread. Updating the TT software and toggling my Schwab Two-step Verification settings didn't help. Ultimately, I was successful with the "brute force" suggestion (trying many times repeatedly) which eventually worked.
It's hard to say whether the root cause is with TT or Schwab, but it seems like one of the companies may be throttling connections inadvertently. Given the number people experiencing this issue on multiple threads, I'd suggest that this gets escalated to the TT and Schwab product development teams for resolution.

Schwab has changed their back-end so first thing to do is to go into your Schwab account and enable turbo tax/Intuit desktop access then change your password at Schwab. If you get lucky, you may get past the "login is temporarily unavailable" screen - just have to keep trying.
Same problem, but it is now the end of the first week of March. This problem is not getting fixed.
I did use the import function successfully with composite 1099 forms prepared by Davenport and Company.
Clearly a Schwab defect.
Suggest that you verify DESKTOP access is enabled on your Schwab account. This is a new setting and it must be enabled first. The import worked for me after I enabled it. One other note: The import process will prompt you to change your password. Not sure what Schwab has done here but changing the password doesn't actually change how you normally access your Schwab account - it seems to be just for the import process. Bottom line is that its wonky but it will actually work if you do these steps.
