Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Sorry but im needing to clear up this bill discrepancy. I dont expect to get the refund that you filed for me without my informatiom being incorrect because not self-employed and own no business or anything like that and dont recieve any money for the work i do to live where i do and my lodging and provisions food and ness to live .I recieve no dollar amounts from homeowner or any amount of credits or other that can be made taxible .I tried to explain my situation to assistant and she told me it would be taken note of the change to free file and no income to report and said it should have been filed that way and i wouldnt get a return but instead get my stimulus money which I have been unfortunately unable to recieve and need desperately live and eat
@userstephenbryer We do not know anything about a billing discrepancy. No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. We do not even understand if you really have a discrepancy. It sounds like maybe you used the Self-Employed software and you are not self-employed. If you used that software and filed the return, they are very unlikely to refund your fee or even part of the fee. You had the chance to downgrade to a lower version or to the free version before you filed, but once you file, you cannot get a refund for a product you used.
However, have that discussion with customer support---perhaps there are details we do not know about.

Customer support is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday-Saturday.
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”
I filed my return manually around March 17th. (Because thru e-filing with Turbo Tax, the EINs did not match) I contacted the IRS both by phone and their browser IRS.GOV with no results. They don’t show any filing nor status of my return.
so I need your help in getting my return completed.
Can I refile adding a couple of deductions like your fee? Can it be completed online?
@Rancho36 The fee for using TurboTax is not deductible unless you are self-employed and are entering it on a schedule C of your business expenses. And what do you mean ----exactly-- by "re-file?" If you already filed your tax return and left out itemized deductions that would exceed your standard deduction, then you have to wait until your return has been fully processed in order to amend it using a Form 1040X. What deductions are you hoping to add?
@Rancho36 Now I see you actually posted twice with different questions--one in which you say you filed "manually"----what do you mean by that? Do you mean you mailed the return instead of e-filing? If you mailed it then you have to wait. It is taking the IRS much longer than normal to process mailed returns. Please provide some details about what you have done so far so we know how to help.
ok now how do i fix my fediral and state e-file. i thought i was done with my 2020 tax returns.. and was working on my 2019 tax returns...
Please do help.
how do i fix my rejected federal and state e-file for 2020 & 2019 returns
@allenakal75 A 2019 return cannot be e-filed now. E-filing has been permanently closed for 2019 returns since mid-October of 2020. A 2019 return has to be printed, signed and mailed.
Since your 2019 return was not filed the IRS does not have an AGI in the system for you to use in order to e-file 2020, so try using zero as the AGI to e-file 2020. If zero does not work then print, sign and mail 2020.
Do not combine them in the same envelope when you mail them. Mail them separately.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
@allenakal75 When you say you are working on your 2019 return----are you using the correct 2019 software? The current online software is ONLY for 2020---it cannot be used for a 2019 return.
The current online program can only be used for a 2020 return--no other year. And if you did not file a 2019 return you will have trouble e-filing 2020. When it asks for your 2019 AGI try using zero. If zero does not work then you have to print, sign and mail 2020.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2017, 2018 and 2019 is permanently closed.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2017, 2018, or 2019 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
Your 2019 return can only be filed by mail.

TurboTax cannot email or mail a tax return to you. You can download a PDF of the tax return yourself.
To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
