I have paid Intuit some $63 to e-file. I believe you have the obligation to resolve this. You and the IRS have created a problem, not I...... I have applied for an activation number already. It was simply ridiculous that a tax payer needs to be subjected to such admin jumbo..... Please fix this OR return my money. This is really upsetting and it delays filing state taxes as well...
E-filing your 2020 tax return: To e-file you will need to enter your AGI from your tax year 2019 tax return. If your 2019 return has not yet been processed, you may enter $ 0 (zero) as your prior year Adjusted Gross Income.
I fixed it in a few tries. I filed Married filing Jointly. Our 2019 return was extremely delayed in 2020.
The same thing happened to me because they processed my taxes late. I used 0. and that is the only way it worked. I had to put a decimal point after the zero because it didn’t work using just 0
Count me as one with this problem in 2019 with TurboTax and again for my 2020return with H & R Block. And no, entering 0 does not work either. With H & R Block, I am unable to edit the field -- no edit link appears. This is maddening. I'll try free software next year.
I'm having the same problem. What can I do to get the IRS to accept this year's return electronically?

If you entered the correct 2019 AGI from the 2019 Form 1040 Line 8b and the IRS has rejected the tax return for an incorrect AGI, then enter a 0 (zero) for the 2019 AGI and e-file again.
Just got rejected because of a non match with AGI. Confirmed AGI entered is exactly the same as IRS transcript.
@JBtaxes If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2019 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2019 AGI might not be in the IRS system. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.
Or—-if you filed as a “non-filer” just to get the stimulus check on a 2019 return, try using $1 as the AGI.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
I HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE AGI I ENTERED IS CORRECT FOR 2019. I DID NOT FILE WITH TURBO TAX SO I DID NOT HAVE A PIN. I HAVE FILED THIS RETURN 5 TIMES AND ALL HAVE BEEN REJECTED FOR THIS SAME REASON. I HAVE PAID FOR MY STATE RETURN BUT TURBO TAX WILL NOT FILE IT. I REQUEST A REFUND FOR MY STATE TAX!
HOW DOES AN INDIVIDUAL GET IN TOUCH WITH A REAL PERSON AT TURBO TAX? YOUR COMPANY IS QUICK TO GET THEIR MONEY, BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET HELP FROM TURBO TAX!
MAILING IN A PAPER RETURN BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT FILE IS NOT THE CORRECT ANSWER. YOU CHARGE FOR STATE BUT WILL NOT FILE IT BECAUSE OF ERROR ON FEDERAL RETURN. REFUND MY FEE FOR THE STATE RETURN THAT YOU WOULD NOT FILE. TURBO TAX IS QUICK TO TAKE MONEY BUT HAS NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TALK TO A REAL PERSON FROM TURBO TAX!
If you e-filed last year, you have a pin - you can't e-file without creating one. If you mailed your return last year, you won't have a self-select pin.
You only need to enter the self-select pin from last year OR the AGI - not both.
What if I entered the correct AGI and I’m still getting an e-file reject?
Does this happen if the taxes you filed last year with TT were filed with a different account number than you are using this year?
AGI rejection has nothing to do with your account number.
If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2019 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2019 AGI might not be in the IRS system. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.
