Clearing the online tax return does not cancel your payment.

You will need to contact TurboTax support for any billing issue.

Once the tax return has been filed the method to receive the tax refund cannot be changed.

If you selected to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund the $39 service charge for this option was clearly shown on the web page.

You were also shown the fees for using TurboTax in the File section of the program on Step1, well before the tax return was e-filed.

The TurboTax Free online edition is for very simple tax returns that do not require any other form or schedule other than the Form 1040.  If your tax data requires entry on any other form or schedule then you must upgrade to the Deluxe edition or higher.  The Deluxe online edition is $39.

Have you already filed your tax return? If so, you will need to reach out to the IRS if you want to change the payment method for your tax payment. Federal tax direct debit payments can be canceled up to two business days prior to the debit date. To cancel, call the U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 888-353-4537. Then, to schedule a new payment, go to the IRS Direct Pay site.

For more information, please see Pay Taxes by Electronic Funds Withdrawal on the IRS website.
