How can identify who in my family requires an IP PIN? I only want to go to the IRS site to obtain the pin for that person.
Also, the video support for this shows that you will be taken to the area with in the return to enter the new IP PIN but when I click on "Review again," it just takes me to a screen that states Let's Take A Look at Your Return which provides a paragraph on the need for an IPPIN. When I then click "Continue", it states Let's Refile Your Return.
Let's Refile Your Return:
"On the next screen you can choose to e-file again or print and file by mail. If you have corrected your errors, you can e-file again at no extra cost........."
Any advice or support is greatly appreciated.

You should receive notice from the IRS on who needs the IP-PIN. For more details on this, please see the Help Article here.
Thanks for your response and link to the article. Unfortunately, this article did not answer my question.
We cannot provide in-depth information about the IP-PIN or who specifically needs it. Did you receive a notice from the IRS that you needed an IP PIN? Where are you receiving the specific information that you or someone needs that PIN?
Do you possibly mean a 5 digit Self Select PIN? For more information on the difference, please see this Help Article.
As noted, the IRS will let you know who specifically needs the IP-PIN. To request an IP PIN, please see the IRS article here. To reach out to the IRS directly, please see the steps below.
IRS: 800-829-1040
Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, local time
Monday-Friday
Or, you can visit your local IRS Office.
When we file and get rejected it gives code iND-996 - basically saying one of your dependents needs a ip pin in order for the return to be accepted. When 3 dependents are involved- and the IRS has not notified you before today (when they rejected your e-file with above code) and when we call the number you linked above it states the IRS is not dealing with IP pins right now- (not have they for the past 53 days- as many of us has called everyday for nearly 2 months) lastly, when you call a random IRS number and wait hour and half to talk to a person- and they tell you- they don’t see that any dependents have an IPPIN, nor has there been any “flags” to your account and she has no idea why so many people are having this issue this year. And when you do TT chat to discuss it, and the guy Joshua says that ALL your dependents need an IPPIN- and when you respond “since when does every dependent need an IPPIN? Are you sure??” And he immediately disconnects from the chat. Leaving you to start another chat, to have that one give you that bogus IRS black hole number you just gave us, and tells you to start an IRS -ID me account for each dependent to get them each an IPPIN and so you do just that- which is not an easy process- only to end up having the “get your IP now” link in the IRS site have “technical issue 112” over and over- so you contact the TT online chat again, to end up having Susie tell you need to just mail your taxes in…..
