Did you use the IRS non-filer website to register for the stimulus payment and now are trying to e-file a 2019 federal tax return? If so, see this TurboTax support FAQ for how to proceed - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/stimulus-how-to-file-your-return-after-getting-rej...
Or did you already file a 2019 federal tax return and are now trying to e-file the same 2019 tax return again?
If that is the issue, you cannot e-file the same tax return twice.
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
so I have filed using turbotax premier.
However I did not get any confirmation emails from turbotax it seems.
However, I cannot continue to e-file as it says I already have submitted my tax return.
I remember not seeing this. and everything seemed like it went through.

Check your email spam or junk mail folders for any TurboTax emails.
If you used the TurboTax online editions the status of the tax return will be displayed on the Tax Home website page when you sign onto your online account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
If you used the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions, you can check the status of an e-filed tax return. With the 2019 tax return opened, click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen. Click on Electronic Filing and Check Electronic Filing Status
I used the CD.
So it doesn't show on the electronic filing.
"Think you've already filed? select continue and we'll double-check if you have or not."
So when I go through everything. It says I have submitted once 'duplicate social security number' is coming out.

If you are getting a Duplicate Social Security Number message then either you used the non-filer website to register for the stimulus payment or someone else has filed a federal tax return with your Social Security number entered on a tax return.
Did you use the non-filers website to register for the stimulus payment?
Or can someone claim you as a dependent on their tax return?
No I have not and no one can.
I was thinking of filing for extension and sending in my tax return after printing.
But I am not sure if I can file for extension as I am already past the due.
I just got mislead by this message in July. I thought I was getting it as I submitted.
And after submission there was a message saying I have to make a change. After I did, I re-submitted.
Then I got that message. But whatever I changed did not make a big difference, so I did not file for amend.
I need help as this is the first year I have filed for this.
And again, we have not filed and nobody can claim me as dependent.

It is to late to file for an extension as that had to be filed on or before July 15, 2020.
What was the message you received when you first filed and the filing was rejected so that you needed to change something on your tax return? What did you need to change?
I believe it was to change my wife's status.
from my dependent to something else.
I thought my wife and my kids would be my dependent.
Form-check said I had no error. so I went on, also requested for that audit-defense or whatever.
When I got that my tax has already been submitted, I did not think that my e-file did not go through.
I was mislead that my e-file went through and then the corrected form is being rejected.
FYI my wife does not work.
And I have to get +8k in tax return.
what would be the best solution to file a late return right now?
Since I do not owe IRS anything.

It would be best to print and mail the tax return to the IRS.
A spouse can never be claimed as your dependent.
If you are legally married you should be filing your tax return as Married Filing Jointly even if one spouse has little or no income.
Before mailing the tax return make sure that you both sign and date the tax return on page 2 of the Form 1040 in the box labeled Sign Here. Include with the tax return copies of form W-2 and form 1099 which have federal taxes withheld on the form.
The mailing address for the federal tax return is on the Federal Filing Instruction page included with the print out of your tax return.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing when using the desktop CD/Download for Windows editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/print-and-file/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-a-return-in-the-turbot...
It is recommended that when mailing a tax return use a tracking service from the US Post Office, certified mail with return receipt, so that you will know that the tax return was received by the IRS.
thanks! have a good one!
A spouse is NEVER entered as a dependent ... there is no place for it and the program even tells you why if you click on the blue learn more links ... you either file a joint return (even if the spouse has no taxable income) or separately in which case you will not get the EIC.
