The TurboTax software that was purchased has to be installed on a personal computer, either using the CD or a Download.  During the installation of the software you are asked to enter the 16 digit license code.

You are posting from the TurboTax online editions which do not use a license code.  You did Not purchase one of the TurboTax online editions so there is no reason for you to be using the online editions.

Make sure you are using the CD/download and NOT online TurboTax.  The license code cannot be used for online software.

We see people get confused and they keep logging in to online software which will require them to pay at the end.   You need to use the desktop software.   One way to tell if you are using the right software---your tool bar.   Online software has the toolbar in a black vertical column on the left side of the screen.   Desktop software has the tools up on the top of your TT screen.

Flawed instructions.... The software for TurboTax 2022 purchased in retail stores includes a license code and instructs users to go to installturbotax.com This only routes you to the online version. You are never prompted for a download or to enter a license key using this url. Please include clear instructions in the community forum. Too late to update the software.

Did you buy the CD or the download?  If you bought the CD you can install it 2 different ways. Either from the CD or by downloading the program.  Downloading is not the same as using the Online web version.  

Actually you should use the download method instead of the CD.  It has more advantages over CD.  Then you can also download it another computer. Once you install the CD you can't install it again like if you need to reinstall the program or install on a different computer.

There should be a card in the CD case on on the CD envelope that says how to download it and you will need the 14 or 16 digit code from it to enter.

If you can't find your download, use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used
