I figured out the fix for this. I was entering Job related W2 expenses and that is no longer a thing, however TurboTax still has this section in the online version. Because I had information in that section and it is no longer allowed for people who work from home the system kept hitting a snag. Once I deleted the job expenses section I was able to get to the Federal review section.
Below is the link for Job Related Expenses in the event anyone else is having the same issue.
Can employees deduct any job-related expenses?
the exact same issue here.
You need to sign out of TurboTax on ALL devices, clear cache and cookies, and try again.
Can you confirm if this solves your issue for me?
If using TurboTax Online: Clear your cache and cookies. See this FAQ, for your particular browser.
I entered mine as summary and the same problem for my children. It's all of our accounts. It worked fine when I entered it and now not.
There is a software issue here Turbotax - you need to fix it.
Can you tell me exactly where in the program you get this message and what the exact message says? A screenshot would be great.
Please see attached screen shots of the page before the message and then the message. I clicked on update next to stocks, crytocurrency, etc.....on the first one and then get the error message.
These are caused by a networking disconnect even when using the Desktop Product.
Check to make sure you have a good, strong internet connection. If you are using a vpn, you might need to temporarily disconnect it. Same with anti-virus software.
I do have a good strong internet connection and no VPN. This is not the problem. There are lots of people on this community with the same issue.
Also, now my account is not giving me the summary page at all to input summarised data from my 1099.
Can you try this and see if this works and let me know?
1. Log out of TurboTax.
2. Update your WINDOWS software.
3. Rebooted computer.
4. Log into TurboTax and if you are on a desktop version, check for updates.
I too have raised it to support and here for the same issue, no help there. Tried different browsers, uninstalled and reinstalled, tried VPN or without. Loading TT Premier on different computer says key is nit valid despite showing it as a choice for active key and 1 of 5 allowed installation. Its definitely a TT issue and their QA/Engineering needs to resolve . Its been weeks or give money back or provide another key to try
I just got this exact message resolved with Alicia from TT. I had to clear my cookies and cache and shut down my computer so it would reboot. Then great news.. I was able to go forward and file. I have Windows 11 on a Chrome computer. Thank you Alicia for your help!
Thanks for the note. It’s encouraging… did you mean browser cookies and cache ?
Have you tried shutting computer off and back on to reboot. This worked for me after clearing browser cache and cookies
Yes I worked with Alicia from TT for 1-1/2 hours on the phone. I originally thought it was a TT problem. She was very helpful and patient as I'm not that "Techy" but after trying new browser, didn't help. Clearing browser Cache and cookies I had to shut my computer down and restart it. After that I got right through and filed!
Thanks for the follow up. I tried all permutations and combinations. Eventually it was solved. The overseas support reached by dialing [phone number removed] is useless. I dialed [phone number removed] At got a person in USA. She was amazing. Basically ended up “purchasing” the state download for me and into my account. Our only explanation was that if it’s a third-party reseller, then TurboTax has had issues. If you contact them within 60 days of your purchase from a third-party reseller, they can refund you the money. They have a very finite list of authorized resellers like Amazon Costco, etc. So the lesson here is that beware of who you’re buying from.
