If this is the error you are receiving, then a 2020 return has already been e-filed using your SSN - you will not be able to e-file an original return this year.
If you did not file your return this year, then someone else has used your SSN to file a return. This may have been intentional or accidental, but the IRS will not accept another e-filed original return with your SSN.
You will have to print and file your return by mail. You will also have to print a file your state return (if any) by mail, since TurboTax will not allow you to e-file a state return unless you have e-filed a federal return through TurboTax.

Not necessarily.
The IRS has been taking longer to process returns so it just may not have been updated on the IRS website yet.
I recommend logging back into TurboTax to check your e-filing status as well. See the following link for more details on how to check the status of your return.

If your returns show up as accepted, your returns have been filed.
Also, I would recommend making sure you do not have more than one login set up as it could be possible you filed your return with another set of login credentials.

If you determine that your Social Security number has already been used to file a tax return, you will need to mail your tax return as ToddL99 mentioned above.

FYI ... the state program is included in the CD version IF you bought the version with a state program included since they are sold with and without the state program. Then there is an efiling fee for each state return to be sent ... you can print, ink sign and mail in the program for free. This has always been the system with the CD/Downloaded version.
I filed my taxes before the deadline and it was rejected. I spoke with a TurboTax expert to help me fix it, she walked me through the steps and said it was fixed and it was rejected again which I didn't find out until the deadline. Now it is the day after the deadline, is there a way someone can still help me fix this and figure out the problem?
