How to find my activation code program is loaded and some data has been entered but when tried to open today it asked for the activation code

Make sure your computer is the same way when you originally installed it.  Like with no flash drives plugged in or plugged in if one was.  It asked me again so I just closed the program and took out a flash drive that was plugged in and tried again.  It worked.  Or you may need to connect a flash drive or printer or something that was connected when you originally installed the program.

You need a 14 digit (for 2019) or 16 digit (for 2020) License Code to activate the Desktop program.

Just spent about 30 minutes with customer support - they pushed a new license to me but this really is a dismal solution. I may use the software at home or in the office (where my computer is connected to a hub) - if the software regards this as a completely different computer, it is the equivalent of getting a hair cut and being regarded as a completely different person.

You get 5 downloads when you purchase TurboTax from us.  You can install it on 5 different computers.  Yes, it will look at each computer differently, but you can still install it on 5 different computers with or without the hub connection.

@pneame   Are you taking your computer to the work location and using the same computer?  Or do you have a different computer at work?  Yes that may be a problem if you try to use the same computer in a different location.  Haven't heard anyone post about  doing that or having problems.

It is the same laptop but a different location with a different collection of peripherals. Typically, in the office I have 4 drives attached via a hub - 3 of these were replaced in the last month. And then at home, I will have 0 or 1 drives attached. 

I'm going to make a point of only using TT at work!  Or at least keeping it open when I move from one place to another. 

Curiously though, I opened TT 2020 to check stuff and it did an update but not ask for an activation code.

It is the same computer but likely configured a bit differently. It makes little sense to view peripherals as part of the configuration (if that is what is happening) - the internal SSD (or hard disk) should have a UUID and that should be the only thing that matters.

Thx! Download - but I don't think that would make difference as you are essentially doing a download when you do an update... 

I'm always paranoid about OS updates - clearly TT is something I need to add to my paranoia radar!
