Turbo tax continues to ask to enter an amount received as an advance payment on schedule 8812. I do not have any dependent children and have not received any payments. Hence I can't complete and eFile my return. How do I correct this? This is a common problem from numerous people

As previously stated -
Everyone is being asked this question since TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021.
Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the issue and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.
Entering 0 does not work. Neither does manually removing the form. I continue to receive the same error.
From Mike 029: I got rid of it by filling out the You and Your Family section in Deductions & Credits. Since I have no children, after answering the 5 questions, the review stopped asking about the form and the 8812 disappeared. Thanks Mike029, your solution was the most helpful for me.
I can confirm, as soon as I entered 0 dependents, the error disappeared in smart check.
Enter 0 the amount received in schedule 8812.
Everyone is required to answer the question regarding the Advance Child Tax Credit .

I keep getting the same question to for an advanced payment on form 8812 even though I do not have any dependents.
Everyone has to answer whether they received advance child tax credit payments. If you did not receive any of those payments between July and December you need to answer that you did not receive any payments.
There are so many scenarios with those payments---like divorced/never married parents who have issues over who received the payments, who claimed the children, etc. --- the software has no way of knowing if any of that involves you---so you have to answer the questions about it.
Please follow these steps to indicate you did not receive any advanced payments:
You have to answer the questions for Advanced Child Tax Credit whether or not you have dependents or not. When the question comes up, just enter a "0" in the box. Everyone has to answer this question. If you are filing MFJ, you will be asked twice, once for the taxpayer and once for the spouse.
I have no dependents but I get an error message for schedule n8812

I went thru the "enter personal information" section in TT. When it got to dependents, children specifically, I had to check "no". That one doesn't autofill to a default answer. Once I did that, form 8812 disappeared.
Correct ... that is all that needed to be done ... you either got the CTC advance payments or you did not. Simple yes or no answer is needed this year by all filers.
What is the advance payment on schedule 8812. Not even sure what schedule 8812 is.
