My baby was born April 2020. I never received any stimulus monies for him. I filed my taxes accordingly and added him as a dependent.
So now what??

There have been important changes to the Child Tax Credit that will help many families receive advance payments. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 expands the Child Tax Credit (CTC) for tax year 2021 only. Below are frequently asked questions about the Advance Child Tax Credit Payments in 2021, separated by topic.
Unpaid stimulus funds should be included as part of your refund. As for the advance child tax credit payments, it depends upon when you filed. If it was recent, they looked at your 2019 return, and saw no child. In that case, you will be able to add your child later this summer, when they update the Advance Child Tax Credit Portal. Set up your account there now, so you're ready to roll when they do the update. Any child tax credit that is not paid in advance will be included in your 2021 return, so one way or another, you will get the money.
I understand the part regarding the child tax refund. I received $300 last week. My question WAS why haven't I received monies for the stimulas checks that we all received. I never received any monies for my baby that was born APRIL 2020???? 15 MONTH'S AGO. You say, "Unpaid stimulus funds should be included as part of your refund. " what refund are you referring to???????
Congratulations on having your baby!
If you included your baby on your 2020 tax return as a dependent , and answered the questions on the stimulus payments correctly, then you should have received a recovery rebate credit if you were eligible. This credit was meant for people who were eligible to receive stimulus money during 2020, but did not receive the amounts for various reasons.
You can check on line 30 of your form 1040 to see if you received this credit. If you did not receive it you may want to call Turbo Tax support to check if you need to amend your tax return.
Hello Again,
The refund that was discussed refers to the 2020 return. The Recovery Rebate Credit: That refers to the credit for the stimulus. If you were to receive 1800 and you only received 1200 the rest should be included as part of your 2020 refund.
The three links above will assist you if you did not claim them on your 2020 return
I checked line 30 on my tax forms it shows $1100. I get that.
I'm referring to why my baby never got tje stimulas we all received?? Wasn't the stimulus we got $1400??? Either way, I never received the monies. Now what??
If you didn't get the new 3rd 1,400 check for your baby you it will be reconciled on your 2021 return next year. They probably processed your 2020 return too late to include it now.
Hello again!!!!
The stimulus on the 2020 return is the recovery rebate credit - I would amend your return.
If you never received the stimulus for your baby that is the best option.
If you have received an incorrect amount for your 2021 stimulus payment, the IRS may either make an additional payment top up payment when they get to it, or you will claim it as a recovery rebate credit on your 2021 tax return.
You may also want to call the IRS to make them aware of the incorrect payment.
If you had the 1,100 on line 30 you do not need to amend. That is the credit for the first 2 Stimulus payments 500+600. So you did get credit for it. It either reduced your tax due or increased your refund. You are only now missing the 3rd 1,400 check.
The $1100 on line 30 represented the first 2 stimulus payments and when the 2020 return is fully processed the third stimulus payment should be released. If it is not then you will get it as a credit on the 2021 return ... there is no other option at this time.
Good that you are getting the advance 2021 CTC payments so you may need to just be ok with that.
Good try. Irs doesn't answer their phone. Once about a month ago they answered ( surprisingly) transferred the call to then just be hung up on.
Yes, missing the fourth stimulus of $1400
Just be ok with that??? You're professional huh???? When CLEARLY the IRS owes me stimulus and not paying it!!!!
I'm NOT OK WITH IT!!!!
