If you are still seeing a "Pending" status, here is the explanation:   On the official opening day (Jan 26), millions of people hit "Submit" at once. The IRS limits how many returns it pulls from the software providers' servers per hour to prevent their systems from crashing. Your return is likely sitting in the "digital waiting room." It will stay Pending until the IRS computer actually "downloads" it and actually accepts or rejects it.

Thanks for the straightforward and definitive answer. And Thank YOU for not dodging the actual question. I can take the appropriate steps to work around this as part of my turbotax routine and move on.  My wife and I have found that TurboTax is the easiest to use, is mostly very intuitive, and has a great user community, so we are not leaving!  mikeurndle
After you complete entry of the W-2, on the following page check the box labeled Overtime and Continue with this section.
I am happy to hear that worked for you as well. Thanks for the “hint” to amend my state return!!  😊

@cbolmsted1    Exactly what are you attempting to do.   In past years, you could not "import" W-2 or 1099-R files from DFAS. As such, you get your paper copies, or download and print them directly from DFAS, then enter them manually into the software.   (Opinion:  DO NOT try uploading a picture or PDF of your W-2 or 1099-R form,  too many errors occur...just "Type it in Myself")
Q.  In your example, would I put in $8,000 in Box 1, $10,000 in Box 5 as you regularly would, and then input $6,000 that she "spent on room and board" to report that as income?  A.  Yes. That is ho... See more...
Q.  In your example, would I put in $8,000 in Box 1, $10,000 in Box 5 as you regularly would, and then input $6,000 that she "spent on room and board" to report that as income?  A.  Yes. That is how you tell TurboTax to make that much, of the scholarship, taxable ($6000 in the example).  $4000 of the scholarship will allocate to tuition. Leaving $4000 of tuition to allocate to the AOTC.    To make some of the scholarship taxable (re-allocate some of the expenses), you must tell TT how much you want taxable by saying it was used for room &board. Note the wording at that screen “or other expenses”. You didn’t have to literally use the scholarship for R&B.

No, there is no definite date for the release of the depreciation updates. Even though Form 4562 has been coded and released to the software, the calculations have not been finalized.    We recommend that you move to another section of your return and/or wait a few days before checking to see if the update is final. Note that most updates are scheduled to be released after midnight, usually on Thursday or Friday, but can be done at any time.

You can look in a few specific places in your account or your email.    Check Your TurboTax Order Details On the Tax Home page, scroll down to the section for "Your tax returns & documents." Select View Order Details. Look for "Refund Advance" or "Credit Karma Money" listed under your payment and refund methods. If it’s not there, you likely selected a standard direct deposit or a different refund option.   Look for Confirmation Emails If you applied, you should have received automated emails from TurboTax and its partners. From TurboTax: Search for an email confirming your "Refund Selection." From Credit Karma: If you were approved, Credit Karma sends an email when the funds are deposited into your Credit Karma Money Spend account. From WebBank: If your application was denied, you will receive an email from WebBank (the lender) explaining the reason for the decline.   Check Your Credit Karma Money Account Because the Refund Advance is deposited into a Credit Karma Money™ Spend account, checking that account is the fastest way to see if the loan was processed. Log in to your Credit Karma account. Navigate to the Money tab. If you see a pending or completed deposit for a portion of your refund (typically between $250 and $4,000) shortly after the IRS accepted your return, that is your Refund Advance.   Review Your Tax Return Summary You can also find clues on your actual tax forms: Open your 2025 return in TurboTax Go to the Tax Tools menu on the left Select Print Center View your Federal Information Worksheet Look at the "Direct Deposit" section If you signed up for the advance, the bank account listed will be the MVB Bank account associated with Credit Karma, rather than your personal bank account.

Yes, you can still claim expenses from income received on form 1099-NEC as an independent contract.  The standard deduction or itemized deduction is separate from business income.  Your business income is reported above the line where you see the standard or itemized deductions.   The income and expenses as an independent contractor  will be reported on Schedule C which is part of your overall tax return. This also means you will be subject to the 15.3% SE Tax.  If you did not pay Self Employment (SE) Taxes in 2025, and if you plan to do this again in 2026, it may be a good idea to make estimated quarterly payment to avoid penalties. Taking Business Expense Deductions To enter your self-employment income select the following: Federal Income and Expenses Show More next to Self-Employment Start next to Self-Employment Yes, to you have any self-employment income or expenses Enter the type of self-employment work you do and you can select that you use your name for your business Click through a few more screens and you will get to a screen that says "Your XX info" Click Looks good Then you will come to a screen that says Let's enter the income for your business.  It will give you the option of 1099-NEC or Other self-employed income including the 1099K , cash and checks.  Here is where you will enter your 1099 If you do not select one, it will not let you enter your income Enter your self-employment income on the next screen Continue and on the next screen click add expenses * Please note navigation may differ slightly depending on which version of TurboTax you are using*
