That information is unknown and I don't think anything has been sent out yet... could take months.
They have set up procedures and resources to find customers' current addresses. They are not going to just send out a check. You will get a letter or an email first. It will probably be several months before you hear anything.
This is not a lawsuit. It's an agreement between Intuit and the attorneys general of the states.
Note that simply having used TurboTax in 2017 and 2018 does not mean that you are a "Covered Consumer." Read the definition of Covered Consumer in one of the earlier posts above in this thread. You have to have been eligible to use the IRS Free File product offered by TurboTax for the specific year, started your tax return in TurboTax Free Edition, upgraded to a paid edition because you were not eligible to use Free Edition, and did not use IRS Free File in an earlier year. Also note that the IRS Free File product offered by TurboTax is not the same as TurboTax Free Edition. The definition of a covered consumer is very precise and a bit complicated. Most TurboTax users are not Covered Consumers.
To Whom This May Concern:
Dear Sir / Madam:
I am Cynthia Denise Harrington-Butler, and I am requesting to be included in this Class Action Lawsuit. I am one of their clients who was charged a $79 filing fee by TurboTax Intuit for using their Online ‘’ FREE’’ Services Offers .
I would like to be a part of the money given back from the lawsuit. I have used turbo tax along with friends for years and always paid a lot of money for the “free edition” turbo tax always lies, I did not do my taxes with them this year because of their withholding the truth from customers, and I am so glad someone finally caught on to them! Turbo tax was taking a lot more then “30”$ which is only given how much the lawsuit is for certain years like 2016,2017,2018. Yet we still miss out on the rest of our money. But I would love to be part of the class act lawsuit because some of the money back is better then nothing back!

There is no class action lawsuit. There is an agreement between Intuit and the attorneys general of the states.
You cannot request or sign up to be included in the agreement. Under the agreement a payment will be sent to "Covered Consumers." You will be automatically notified if you are a Covered Consumer. You do not have to do anything to be included. Merely having paid to use TurboTax does not make you a Covered Consumer. You have to meet a very specific set of conditions to be a Covered Consumer. You can see the definition of a Covered Consumer in some of the earlier posts in this thread. Most TurboTax users are not Covered Consumers.
How do I know if I am part of this classaction lawsuit because for many years you were charging me this outrageous amount when I only made about $800/yr
First using your phone number for the user ID is not a wise choice so if anyone actually calls you they are scammers and not from TT proper.
Next ... if your only income was $800 you should be using one of the IRS FREE FILE options you can access from here : https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
Did you read any of the previous posts in this thread? There is no class action lawsuit. There is an agreement between Intuit and the attorneys general of the states. You will be notified if you are included in the agreement. It will be several months before any notices are sent out.
You are included in the agreement if you are a Covered Consumer. The definition of a Covered Consumer is very precise and a bit complicated. You can read the definition of Covered Consumer in one of the earlier posts above in this thread.
Just having paid to use TurboTax for many years does not make you a Covered Consumer. Most TurboTax users are not Covered Consumers. The agreement covers only 2016, 2017, and 2018 tax returns. You have to have been eligible to use the IRS Free File product offered by TurboTax for the specific year, started your tax return in TurboTax Free Edition, upgraded to a paid edition because you were not eligible to use Free Edition, and not have used IRS Free File in an earlier year. Also note that the IRS Free File product offered by TurboTax is not the same as TurboTax Free Edition.
I didn’t receive nothing in the mail and I’ve been dealing with TurboTax for years. Where’s my check? And they charged me extra this year
@Arosado It seems like you posted to this thread without reading much of the information that is here. There have not been any checks sent out yet. So--here is the information again:
The settlement agreement covers users who used TurboTax in 2016, 2017 or 2018. If you are one of the affected users you will receive about $30 for each of those years in which your income was $34,000 or less and in which you started in the Free Edition and were upgraded to a paid version of the software.
"Covered Consumer" means any individual, or individuals if a joint return was filed, who in Tax Years 2016, 2017, or 2018 was (1) eligible to use an Intuit IRS Free File Product; (2) began his or her tax returns using a TurboTax Free Edition Product; (3) was informed that he or she was ineligible to use a TurboTax Free Edition Product; (4) subsequently paid to use a TurboTax Paid Product, and (5) had not used the Intuit IRS Free File Product in a previous tax year.
You do not have to “sign up” or get on a list. The payments will be sent out automatically to the affected users. We do not know yet how soon the payments will be sent.

Using TurboTax for years does not make you a "Covered Consumer" under the agreement. To be a Covered Consumer you have to have met a very detailed and specific set of requirements. Read the definition of a Covered Consumer in xmasbaby0's post immediately above this one. Most TurboTax users are not Covered Consumers.
How do I enter the class action lawsuit?

Well I am a covered consumer. I came in here to start my paper work. Not to be taunted by a consumer. I shouldn’t have been paying TurboTax to do my taxes. But I will call them in the morning to handle my situation. Thanks for the reply @rjs but it wasn’t needed by a no employee of TurboTax
