It shows that you are using the desktop product for Windows; if this is the case, try checking for updates. If the issue persists, reply here and we will further assist.

I have a pdf copy of my w-2 and would like to bring it into turbotax desktop.  I can't find where to do it.  Do i have to enter manually?

No, you won't need to enter it manually.  When your first start on your W-2, TurboTax will ask for the Employer ID.  In some instances, the information can be imported automatically by entering a few additional numbers from the W2.  If not, the next screen will give you the option to Upload it from my computer, which will open file explorer.  Locate the PDF file, click on it, then click Open on the file explorer screen.  That will import the W-2 information into TurboTax.

Be sure to double check the entries in TurboTax against the entries on the W-2 to make sure that all of the information has been imported correctly.  Some W-2 forms have multiple pages, so be sure that all entries on additional pages are imported correctly as well.

It did not offer to upload from my computer as I thought it was supposed to.  So I ended up entering it manually.  I'm not sure if I did anything wrong or if the system simply didn't work!!

I am using the desktop program.  It imported information from my 2020 return but won't allow me to enter W2 information.  It didn't ask me to import my W2 info, and just skipped over any "Wages and Salaries" details.  Under "Your 2021 Income Summary" I now see a $0 for 2021 income although there is income in the 2020 column.  When I hit the "Update" button, the window goes blank.  "FEDERAL TAXES" is highlighted, as is "Wages & Income" but there is nothing else in the window under the "Wages & Income, Deductions & Credits, Other Tax Situations, Federal Review, Smart Check" line.  If I click "Wages & Income" it takes me to "How do you want to enter your income?"  It doesn't matter if I select "Guide me" or "I'll Explore on my own" as both take me back to the "Your 2021 Income Summary."

Turbo Tax will not let me enter W-2 Info.   Msg box says to go back and check previous section.   I have already updated the turbo tax program

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, in the Federal Taxes tab,  go to Wages & Income > I'll choose what I work on.  On the 'Your 2025 Income Summary' screen, go to 'Wages & Salaries' and choose Update.  If you added (or tried to add) a W-2, the next screen is 'W-2 Summary'.

Click 'Review' to open the W-2 entry boxes.  Add or edit any info you need to, using your W-2 for reference.

For what it's worth, I was able to fix this by completely uninstalling TurboTax for the current and previous years, both via the TurboTax uninstaller on the Windows add/remove programs screen and via the "force uninstall" instructions at https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/diagnostics/forcefully-uninstall-turbotax-windows-8-1-10-11/L02V7GKz3_US_en_US , and then reinstalling.
