Who do I call to give them my new checking account number to the IRS
If you are referring to the bank account for a direct deposit of a tax refund, once the tax return has been filed and accepted the bank information cannot be changed. If the information is incorrect the bank will refuse the deposit and send it back to the IRS. The IRS will send the tax refund as a check in the mail to the address entered on the tax return.
If you are referring to the bank information for the Advance Child Tax Credit then go to this IRS website and use Manage Payments - https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/advance-child-tax-credit-payments-in-2021

@Mknent You cannot change how you want to receive your refund after you file your tax return. If you gave the IRS banking information for a wrong or closed account, your refund will be sent back to the IRS and then the IRS will mail a check to the address on your tax return.
If this is about the monthly child tax credit payments---then use the portal on the IRS site to change your information. You cannot change it on the TurboTax site.

I need to change my bank account
My name is Bernice Ashley my new account number is [phone number removed]24. Routing number is [removed] yes I did change my account number
I asked them months ago to do that and they still did direct deposit I am in this exact situation
My name is Bernice Ashley my new account number is [phone number removed]24. Routing number is [removed] yes that is the right account number
@BerniceAshley65 This public user forum is NOT the place to enter or post your banking information. Luckily for you the filter removed it so that identity thieves do not have it already. Do not post personal information on this public web site.
Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.
Here is what the IRS says about entering incorrect banking information
Can I contact the ITS to change my account numbers
If you have already e-filed your return and it's been accepted, the IRS would not be able to change your account number for direct deposit. If you entered the wrong direct deposit account information, you have options to still get your refund. Please see the FAQ link provided below for additional information:
What if I entered the wrong bank account for direct deposit?
Hi, my name is Karin Anding and I am still searching for my April Social Security check. I finally got the routing and account numbers so called the IRS and gave them this information. Well, shortly thereafter, USbank changed the account number for my Checking Account so the one I gave them is not correct. The routing number is still [removed] but the account number for my Checking Account is now [phone number removed]9. Can you please let me know that you received this? I think I may have called this in but am not certain. I tried calling again this morning, but they said they were busy and to call back another day. I have already waited and waited for my April Social Security check and do know that the first time it was returned to the IRS due to an inactive account. I felt good about correcting that error when USbank changed the number for that account again. As far as I know, the account number for my checking account is now the one that I just gave you. Thank you kindly.
Karin Anding
@KJA2 The IRS does not send out Social Security checks. Your Social Security benefits are paid to electronically by direct deposit to your bank account from the Social Security Administration.
Go to this Social Security website for direct deposit information - https://www.ssa.gov/deposit/
I received my refund. Can I change my direct deposit account
@CW4texas - when you file for 2022 next year, yes. For your protection, the IRS doesn't permit changes to bank account information.
