My 2019 tax return has not been processed yet and it was accepted March 28th, 2020

When can I get my money faster

There is nothing you can do speed up the processing of a tax return and the refund.

Read the posts on this thread.

My 2019 tax return has not been processed yet and it was accepted March 28th, 2020

I understand about waiting patiently. However, the IRS is now charging me interest on the amount I owe. $7.00 that is $7. They can send me letters saying I am late on paying my taxes but also havent processed my return so they don't know if I'm eligible for my first Stimulus check. I filed in March and they accepted it March 28th. This has nothing to do with patience anymore. There is a problem. And no one to talk to about it. I'm a bartender. I'm not making $70,000 a year. Please don't provide trite answers like "wait patiently."

A) if you are getting a refund the IRS will pay YOU interest due to the delay in processing

OR

B) if you owe you can pay the IRS anytime by going online or mailing in a payment.  If you are talking about any penalties or interest on the balance due then it is calculated starting with the date the return was mailed and not processed.  If you already sent/made the payment and you got a bill then you can either ignore it and when the IRS does finally process the return it will all balance out  ... OR  mail in proof of payment with a note saying you don't owe anything.

I filed electronically with Turbo Tax. That is why I am on this site. Electronically in March. And it was accepted. A simple form. No math involved. No extra stuff. A simple ez form.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

@Cliff Capelle What is your question?  Did you mail the return?  And you know that the IRS received it because you received a notice from the mailing service?  You still have to wait for the IRS to process your return.

The IRS has just started to work through millions of mailed returns that have been piling up in trailers during the pandemic.  All you can do is watch the IRS refund site to see when your return makes it to the surface and goes into processing. Sorry.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue:

IRS operational status and alternatives

Processing Delays for Paper Tax Returns: Taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider, or IRS Free File

We’re experiencing delays in processing paper tax returns due to limited staffing. If you already filed a paper return, we will process it in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.

If  you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.

TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.

When the IRS finally opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

State returns have to be mailed to the state.

It was not mailed. It was electronically sent in. I understand if I mailed it. But I didn't.

@2018fltaxreturn

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

@2018fltaxreturn Please keep your posts in one of the threads you have already posted in.  You have posted to multiple threads several times in one day.  That makes it very confusing to those of us who might be trying to help you.  We do not want to click all over the forum trying to figure out what you said two hours ago or a few days ago and keep it all straight.

Or if you used the Desktop CD/Download program on your computer (I think I saw you said that) you have to check your efile status inside the program.  Please double check your return was Accepted.

For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program.  Open your return and go up to menu item

File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status

Also I'm confused.  Did you have a Refund or tax due on your tax return?  Sounds like you had a $7 tax due on 1040 line 23? Are you waiting for the Stimulus Check or a Refund?

My 2019 tax return has not been processed yet and it was accepted March 28th, 2020

Stimulus check. I tried to pay my taxes but they sent the 7 dollars back to me. Now I have a letter that says to pay.

My 2019 tax return has not been processed yet and it was accepted March 28th, 2020

I am confused as well. I am just answering back to others that have posted. NO need for me to post anymore. I see that I'm just stuck in limbo. If I find out anything I'll be happy. It just seems that this might be a glitch in the Turbo Tax system.

We electronically filed by the April 15th deadline this year and have yet to receive any updates from the IRS.  We really rely on that refund and especially now. I have confirmation that it is received, but it is still being processed...whatever that means.  I have the hotline to call, but it is just an automated maze.  Anyone have any suggestions?
