You could receive it within 1-5 business days so keep an eye out for it. Most financial institutions take time to receive refunds from the IRS. You can see more information on this topic here: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/refund-timing.
If it has been longer than 5 days, check with your bank, since banks vary in how and when they credit the funds.
The government does not have the money.
This is my recent update on gub website
For refund information, please continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day.
I FILED ON 1/27. THESE PEOPLE GIVE HARD DEADLINES EVERY DAY YET THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT.
It can take 4-6 weeks to receive your check via mail. This is after the IRS accepts and approves your return. If your original check was returned to the IRS for some reason, it will take longer for the second check to be issued because they have to ensure the first check was not cashed.

Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
Actually, I filed electronically requesting a direct deposit. Everything was correct on my return. I was supposed to receive my refund on 2/26. Initially, the IRS claimed that my refund had been sent to my bank but my bank denied that fervently. They never sent the refund. The treasury is trying to buy time by delaying my refund and millions of others by sending "checks". So yes, the "check" is in the mail but I didn't request a check. They don't have the money.
Have you called to see if you have an offset. This can be from a number of things... Unpaid student loans, child support, you name it. You may call the offset hotline and see if it was taken.
Nope, no offset. I have no student debt. I have never been divorced. Nothing. The only thing that could have gone wrong is that some government employee did not fill out the routing and bank info correctly. This would have caused the direct deposit to fail. My bank did warn me about the IRS making coding errors. They said that the IRS does it all the time.
Do you know of a way to actually get through to the IRS? I have had no success. Thanks
Yes, you may contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 please see this website article from the IRS on contact hours and information you will need to have ready when calling them: https://www.irs.gov/help/telephone-assistance.
Here are some tips when contacting the IRS: (wait times could be very long).
Did you ever get it and was it the right amount mine says same thing but amount on left side is gone?
Waiting is frustrating—refunds are taking longer in many cases. These are not normal times. It is not possible for TurboTax to speed up the IRS for you. The IRS is short staffed; and they are processing millions of tax returns at the same time that they have been burdened with the task of processing millions of stimulus checks.
To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.
