Amend 2020 Taxes Date using TurboTax

I already followed these directions. There is no option for this. Anywhere.

The program must be closed and re-opened to see the option to Amend a filed return.

I did that as well. Is the issue that I did my taxes, my wife's and my nephew's on the same software download? I have exited the software multiple times and the option is simply not there.

The software is designed to allow up to 5 federal returns to be filed, so having three returns done should not interfere with amending.

Even if you have already called, you may want to contact TurboTax at (800) 446 - 8848 again for another agent to look at your screen. If needed, request a Mac expert, even if that would mean a call back. For more information about ways to contact TurboTax, see: What is the TurboTax phone number? 

To confirm it is not a system issue, here are the minimum system requirements for TurboTax 2016 through 2020 software for Mac Basic, Deluxe, Premier, and Home Business editions.

Operating System

• 2020: macOS Mojave 10.14 or later
• 2019: macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later
• 2018: macOS X v.10.12 or later (64-bit required)
• 2017: macOS X v10.11 or later (64-bit required)
• 2016: macOS X v10.9 or higher (64-bit required)

Processor: Multi-core Intel processor with 64-bit support

Hard Drive Space

• 2019 – 2020: 1 GB
• 2016 –  2018: 650 MB

RAM: 2 GB or more recommended

CD/DVD drive if installing from the CD.

Internet connection: 1 Mbps modem (Broadband connection highly recommended). Required for product activation, software updates, and optional online features

Monitor resolution: 1024×768 or higher recommended

Amend 2020 taxes recovery tax rebate from dependent stimulus funds

I'm also having a problem amending my 2020 taxes. I filed in June and payment was taken out of my bank account by the IRS. Now when I need to Amend the return there is no option "Amend return" in any of the menus on my downloaded Turbo Tax software for Mac. Is the option not available or is it an error?

To amend your tax return using the TurboTax download editions -

• Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home & Business)
• Click on Other Tax Situations
• Under Other Tax Forms
• On Amend a return, click on the start button

You might need to first update your return with the filing status so it knows it was filed and accepted.  For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program.

Open your return and go up to menu item

File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status

Then save your return and close and reopen it.  

The jump to search is tricky to use.  If it isn't working on your Mac program, then open your return and it may say Amend on the first screen.  Or maybe it will be before you open your return.  Go to File-Open and before clicking on your return see if it says Amend somewhere.

Or after you open your return and make a Duplicate like the Amend FAQ says, go to 

Federal Taxes or Personal (Deskop H&B)
