If you have already submitted your tax return, you will have to wait until the IRS either accepts or rejects your return. You cannot return to the program to make any changes before that.
If your return got rejected for whatever reasons, you can return to the program to edit info along with other changes. You do not need an amendment 1040-X.
If your return has been accepted, you will have to amend your return by filing a form 1040X. You should not try to amend your return until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund or your payment has cleared.
Beginning with the 2019 tax year, you can e-file amended tax returns. If you used TurboTax to prepare Form 1040-X, follow the software's instructions to e-file the amendment.

I entered the AIG correctly. Even went out to the IRS and got the online Transcript. AIG matched. Tried it twice. Just entered 0 for AIG and it was accepted.

Sounds like the IRS is looking for your 2019 AGI. See link here: Rejected code
There are three ways you can use to locate your AGI:
If you have your last year's tax return, read here: Find your AGI
If you used TurboTax online to file, you can access your account here Login and download a copy of your prior year’s 1040 tax return to find your AGI. Click here for instructions: Prior year's return
If you do not have a copy of the tax forms, you may order a transcript from the IRS. Click here Get Transcript and select "Get Transcript Online " or request a full copy of your past year's tax return. Click here: https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-4506
Once you obtained your 2019 AGI, follow this link Fix a reject to return to your account to enter your AGI and re-submit.
If issue remains unsolved, I will suggest you to print out your tax forms and paper file to the IRS. To see explanations, click here: Correct AGI got rejected

My frustration exceeds rational limits. My 2020 return was rejected for a non-matching 2019 AGI. when I corrected that number (although I never found where I entered it in 2020), EVERY time I attempted to submit it by hitting "Continue" as instructed, the computer reverted to the page that appears when I first log on to the machine. How can I submit this AGI to the IRS without further attempts to use the 2020 TurboTax program?
I don't know for sure, but I suspect it's because the IRS hasn't processed your 2019 return yet, so they don't have your 2019 AGI on record. This happened to me because I had to file a paper return for 2019. I read that the IRS was so far behind, they had not yet processed 2019 paper returns. When I entered 0 for 2019 AGI on the e-File, it worked.
Third time's a charm. The workaround you provided worked! Evidently the IRS has not updated a lot of records to reflect the 2019 filing (covid related?), thus they don't have the 2019 AGI in it's system and cannot match the records if you input an AGI number in. I tried inserting a 0 myself, and that failed, but letting turbo tax input it for you by checking the box that you did not file in 2019 will work.
Many 2020 e-filed returns have been rejected over an "incorrect" 2019 AGI - in many cases where the 2019 AGI was entered correctly.
As @randy53 and @Dogs1001 stated, the two most effective workarounds are to enter "0" as the AGI or to check that you did not file a return in 2019.
See What if I entered the correct AGI and I’m still getting an e-file reject? for additional information and your options if the above choices do not work.
My taxes are still showing excepted
@ellab8501 Accepted or Rejected? If they were Accepted then what is the problem? Turbo Tax will always say Accepted. They don't know when the IRS processes or sends your refund. Once the IRS accepts your return for processing then Turbo Tax is done with their part.
I got a text on March 29th saying my taxes were accepted. I’m just confused why turbo tax is saying rejected.
the federal taxes rejected after I filed I filed three different times I filed Klamath I'm I'm head of householding when you pendant I don't understand why my taxes were rejected if you could find out they said my AGI was different than what they have their computer but I have filed for 19 and 20 so both of them were rejected I was wondering if you could look into that and ask me why and if you can get some refiled for me and I did not get any any of my stimulus checks because I did not have my debt my taxes filed I filed relief recovery recovery relief whatever they did that's what they told me to do is file with my taxes to get my stimuluses so if you could please help me I'd really appreciate this
I filed my federal tax for 19 and 20 and both are rejected not sure why but I claim head of household and my son divorced and if you could check into this and find out why I did not receive my taxes or why it was rejected or why I did not receive not one of my stimulus checks I got nothing
