Why was my taxes rejected
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
This is the problem:
The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records.
Here is our solution:
The IRS rejected your federal return because the IRS was unable to confirm your identity based on your AGI from last year. This number has to match what the IRS has in their database exactly, so returns get rejected for this reason from time to time.
To e-file again, you need to enter a different number to get it to match the IRS database.
If you didn't file last year or you filed late (after the October deadline), try entering 0 for your AGI.
If the IRS continues to reject you, we recommend that you print and mail your taxes in.
If you used TurboTax Online, just sign back in then follow the step-by-step instructions on how to change your AGI. If you used the TurboTax CD/Download, open your return in TurboTax and go to the File tab. Select the Continue button until you reach a screen titled "Review Your Federal Filing Choices". From there, select the Edit button for "You have provided your identifying information for e-filing". Once you've changed your AGI, continue on to re-file your return and you'll be all set.

I followed every form to the tee way am I getting rejected for the third time.
It tells me there is something wrong with kids name or social security number
A reject code says that either the name or the Social Security number of a dependent listed does not match IRS records. Please check your entries and check to see what information is on the Social Security cards for the dependents.
If you feel the reject code is in error, please contact your local Social Security Administration to verify the information in their database concerning your dependent and have corrections made if needed.
Howdo i fix it
First step is to find the problem. Have you verified first by checking social security cards for you, spouse and dependents to verify names and numbers input into TurboTax are an exact match. Next, check with the social security administration to ensure birthdates are correct in their records and match the TurboTax entries. If you find an error there, you can correct in TurboTax and then refile. If everything matches but still rejects then you should print and mail your returns.
