Where can I ask for a line by line review?

When I get the to the "Review" section the only options available are "Talk Live (one or two areas)", "Get a written response (one or two areas)" and "Never mind, I'm good". I kept going all the way to end, even beyond payment to Turbo Tax and still haven't seen an option to ask for a line by line review.

Where can I ask for a line by line review?

To request a Line by Line Review, you need to select Talk Live. Once you are talking to the agent let them know you want a Line by Line Review right away.

 

In most cases, they will start the Line by Line Review right away. If you reach someone who is not skilled to provide that service, they will set you up with an appointment with a Tax Expert who can help you.

Where can I ask for a line by line review?

Hey Julie - I tried going on the "Talk Live" with a specialist and she didn't know how to connect me with someone that could do the line by line review. I then emailed someone in the expert review section and he got back to me saying "everything looked great" a couple of hours later - so I don't think that was a line by line review either.

 

Are you able to connect me with someone that can help me schedule the line by line review?

All TurboTax Live products provide:

 

Help from a CPA or EA when you have questions about your return.

 

A Final or Expert Review of your return by an expert before filing, at your request. A tax expert can even sign your return.

  • Live Review: Using Smart Look (one-way video where you can see the tax expert on your screen; they can’t see you) or by phone. You can ask about a specific topic or section or get a review of your entire return.
  • Offline Review: Submit your questions and the tax expert will give a detailed answer by message within 24 hours.

Where can I ask for a line by line review?

I have asked a turbo tax specialist and an EA. None of them have been able to point me in the right direction or do it themselves - although I was under the impression the EA should have been able to. He just pointed me to my own thread (this one) to find a solution.

I am sorry you are having trouble scheduling your "Line by Line" review. I used to perform those here at TurboTax, so I know you have to contact a live agent to schedule it.

 

It looks like you completed your return and saw the options to have an online review (Talk Live) or to submit a question for an "offline" review. You do want to select the online review option to speak with a representative.

 

You are correct, if you spoke with an EA he or she should have given you the option to have a line by line review of your tax return. I suspect what happened is it is early in the tax season and the agent you spoke with might not be familiar with the line by line review procedures as they are not that common yet. 

 

I urge to try again and make it clear that you want a line by line review and the agent should be able to assist you.

Where can I ask for a line by line review?

My tax returns were rejected and I reached out to TurboTax for help and went up the rank until I reach a CPA.  There were no errors in the return until she made some changes.   She wasn't able to correct the errors.  She told me that I need a line-b-line review but she didn't know how to connect me with someone to do such a review.  She suggested the maybe I need to upgrade from a Deluxe to a Premium in order to get this type of service.  I did and my upgrade order was confirmed right away after I paid for the upgrade.  She still couldn't find a link to how I can request a line-by-line review.  I lost the connection.   If a CPA from TurboTax can't correct the mistakes in my returns, what hope do I have in trying to do so myself?!  Please help.

I went to Turbotax online for help and was asked for more money to review the return.  And the price charged is according to the version of the software.  Since the CPA asked me to upgrade from Deluxe to Premium, I will have to pay more for the service.   Is that right?  I bought the protection package and I was told they can help me only if I am audited.  Is that right?

Where can I ask for a line by line review?

1. Contact customer service and let them know that you were told to upgrade and did not need it. Instead, you need to upgrade to the LIVE service.  You can fill this form out for someone to call you. They should be able to make the price correct for your situation.

 

With the LIVE service, you can have a line by line review, let the customer service representative know they need to handle 2 issues. One the charge for the upgrade and two, getting you an appointment for the line by line review. See What is a Line by Line Review?

 

2. The protection package will take care of you in the event you are audited, through support and representation.  TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support.  

 

3. Another option is to clear and start over. This will let you downgrade your return, re-enter your information and you are welcome to post in the community what issues you are having for help in getting your return processed.  Best wishes!

Is the line by line review option still available? I talked to a CPA and I was told I had to upgrade to full service... Is this right?
