What if I need my return completely reviewed?

SOLVEDby TurboTax3088Updated December 08, 2023

In TurboTax Live, you have the option for a tax expert look over every line of your return and file it for you. If tax expert advice will result in a substantial impact to your tax return, IRS regulations require them to sign and file your return for you. There's no extra charge for this.

Once your tax expert gets all your tax documents and information from you, it'll take a few business days to complete your return.

After running Complete Check, you’ll have the option to talk to a tax expert. During your conversation, the tax expert will know whether or not you would need an expert to review, sign and file on your behalf. If you qualify, the tax expert will send you a pop-up message where you can schedule your thorough review.

  1. Meet your tax prep assistant: You’ll meet your tax prep assistant and learn more about the process and how long it'll take, and you'll have the opportunity to ask questions.
  2. Upload additional information: You'll need to upload additional documents and provide additional information before your tax expert can begin their review.
  3. Connect with your tax expert: Your expert will reach out to complete your return. You can also contact your tax expert again in the My Expert section.
  4. Review your return: After your return is finished, you'll receive a message to set up an appointment with your tax expert to review your return with you.
  5. Pay for your return: After you've reviewed your return with your tax expert and are ready to file, you'll pay for TurboTax.
  6. Download a copy of your return and submit for filing: Once you've paid, you'll have the opportunity to download a copy of your tax return before your tax return is filed.

If you need to amend your return after a thorough review, our tax experts will help you do so.
