When is TurboTax 2025 expected to be released?

My wife and I owed a large amount in Federal taxes for 2024 due to inadequate withholding; my W-4 was mostly to blame.  I'm going to attempt to compensate for the remaining 8 months of 2025 by having an uncomfortably large flat amount withheld per pay, but I would like to monitor this as the year goes along and having TurboTax 2025 installed would be very helpful.  At which point in the year is each annual product typically released?  Thanks in advance!

TurboTax normally releases the beta version in mid-November.

I usually use the prior year TT to do some running estimate during the year until the next year's version is available.  The only issue is any changes in deductions or tax brackets for 2025 etc will be slightly different so you have to compensate a little for those situations to make it work e.g. you can mock up a W2 from your YTD pay statement but maybe 401k contribution limits have changed, HSA deduction limits have changed etc, and maybe do the final tax table calculation by hand using 2025 tables.  There may be other tax calculators which are up to date for 2025 more quickly than the TT release.  Depends how complex your situation is - but remember to avoid underpayment penalty you need to hit 100% of 2024 tax (110% if AGI > 150k), or 90% of 2025 tax whichever is smaller, so your worst case you need to hit the "100/110% of 2024 tax" which is known but maybe more withholding than you need; did you work thru the interview under Other Tax Situations/Form W4 and Estimated Taxes to figure the amount you need.

at one time there was a message from Turbotax that it might no longer support windows 10.

I got the same message. And given Microsoft over zealous requirements for hardware none of my machines will upgrade. I just tried the instructions for moving to ONLINE, and of course that didn't work .. i tried to upload last years return and it said Sorry dude, that's no good .. would only let me uploaded 2023 which was two years ago? WTH. So no Windows 10, and the instructions TurboTax gives don't work (yet?). Off to a great start. TT should have said something about this WAY before almost September of 2025. My mother passed this year, now I have to create an account for her to do on-line. I have an Intuit account, but like I say, testing the waters to see if I could transfer my last filed return just failed.

@rdenney   Right, you can not MOVE or Open a current year 2024 Desktop return into the 2024 Online version.  You can only TRANSFER a prior year return into the current year, like 2023 to start a new 2024 return.   So when 2025 Online opens in November or early December you can transfer from your 2024 return.  Or if you want to test Online now you could transfer from your 2023 return and enter all your 2024 info again manually and see if it matches your Desktop return.   That’s what I would do to test it.  

Then for next year…..If you used the Desktop program for 2024,  here’s How to transfer into the Online version, expand the 3rd blue link if you used the CD/download last year........

If you used the Desktop program before you may not like the online version.  It has less features and no Forms Mode.  All the Online versions do not have the same forms so you may need to upgrade to a higher version.  You can only do 1 return.  Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2024 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done.  In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something.  You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.
