In addition to paying for the correct level of TurboTax to properly complete your Federal return, there is a $39 fee to e-file each state you are filing returns in. You are notified of it when you request to e-file your state return with your federal return.
Thank you for your response, but I am not asking about the $39 fee to file state returns. I am asking about the additional $40 fee. I have never had this fee in the past, this is something new. The documents that I signed and agree to do not have this fee included. I would like to know why I am being charged an extra $40 that I did not agree to.

You should not have been charged that $40 fee.
TurboTax is aware of this issue and is working to provide a solution for all impacted customers.
No action is required on your part and TurboTax is working quickly to get you reimbursed. You should be getting an email shortly letting you know when to expect the rest of your return.
Thank you for the explanation. If Turbo Tax would have sent an email or even had a notice on their website regarding this, it would have prevented many questions from their users.
This issue appears to be occurring again this year. My fees, inclusive of the $39 "Refund Processing Fee," should have come out to $227 before tax. However, my return is showing an additional $40 reduction that is not listed in anything I signed. This is my first time filing with TurboTax and frankly, this is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons:
Yeah, I am aware of how to view my fees. I posted in this specific forum because I am experiencing the exact same issue as OP. I’ve been charged an extra $40 that TurboTax is not entitled to, and that is not listed on receipt for services.
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”
