First, did your IRS letter give you a fax number to use?
Second, is there anyone in the IRS office yet to pick up and process the fax?
We don't know the answer to #2 and have no way to know. Unfortunately, that is a question that only the IRS itself can answer, especially since there is likely more than one fax number nationwide for the various offices handling this.
Why do you recommend against Faxing? Also, do you know the fax number I should use to send in my 1095a and 8962 if I forgot to include?
We do not recommend against faxing your documents to the IRS.
Your forms 1095-A and 8962 can sent by fax to 1-855-204-5020.
Your letter tells you what fax number to use. I find it hard to believe that is not a fax machine in the processing center handling your issue.
I misplaced the letter sent to me from IRS stating that I have to send my Form 1095-A and I didn't save the IRS mailing address, I am wondering if you guys know the IRS Department address that I have to mail my 1095-A to?
Thanks,
Where you will return the form to will vary based on which center is processing your return. I suggest calling the IRS general taxpayer assistance line, where they can look it up so that you can return it for processing with minimal delays. You can reach the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. The wait time is often shortest around 7AM, your local time.
@Mturi
So last year I did not buy the health insurance from marketplace. Instead I bought directly with Ambetter Superior. I filed my return for the last year 2019. I received the return, after 3 months later I get a mail from IRS asking the information about 1095-A and form 8962. I tired calling them; they simply told me to call back later. Anyway now I just do not know what do about that??? Or How to contact them about my situation because I looked online the information on who gets 1095-A; it shows that if you buy the insurance through marketplace you receive 1095-A, but if you buy it from somewhere other than the marketplace then you do not receive the 1095-A.
The Ambetter Superior plan meets the same criteria as a Marketplace plan and will have a 1095-A. Please contact Ambetter Superior for your copy.
I have contacted Ambetter superior regarding 1095 A. Here is what they said:
Thank you for contacting us.
I will be happy to provide you the information needed. You can obtain your 1095-A form from your Healthcare.gov web account. If you do not have one please contact the Health Insurance Marketplace directly at [phone number removed]. Unfortunately Ambetter does not have or send the 1095-A forms.
Hey all. I just got my letter from the IRS saying that I forgot to submit my form 1095A and they are requesting that form as well as form 8962. I already paid them $1,171 from my 1099 work and my return was accepted. They took the $1,171 right away, but now I know I owe more because I underestimated what I would make in 2019 so I owe for health care.
Has anyone else been in this situation where you already owed the IRS and now you're going to owe more after they process the 1095A? What happened after you submitted the forms and how did they let you know to pay the remaining balance?
Thanks!
I am in the same situation. Received the letter and did not have marketplace insurance. And have not been able to get any clear answer on what I am supposed to do.

If you did not have Marketplace Insurance and did Not receive a Form 1095-A then you will have to contact the IRS using the phone number on the notice you received. The IRS may well have incorrect information on you concerning your type of health care insurance.
I called the number on the letter. The person I spoke with didn’t seem to know what I was supposed to do either.
I will try calling again and speaking with someone else.
Call the ACA and see if you have a 1095-A in the system ... if you do get a copy mailed to you. If you do not then respond to the IRS letter telling them you don't have one.

If you get the same type of response again ask for a supervisor. The IRS has seen this type of issue hundreds if not thousands of times over the past several years so it should easy to get this resolved.
