Was charged $89 to file a simple 1040 this year

Hello, everyone. I was doing my youngest daughter's taxes this year. Who had 2 jobs all year because she is still in high school. She does not have any Dependents and had a simple 1040 tax form, We always use the mobile app to do our taxes have been for years have not had any issues until this year. She was charged $89  to do her taxes this year from Turbo tax. And then another $40 on top of that for a Direct deposit return fee into her checking account. Why was my 17-year-old daughter charged a total of $129 especially when her return wasn't much more to begin with? Also her and I have had this same bank for many years and neither one of us has ever been charged. The $40 for the direct deposit return fee. Could anybody explain to me if they got charged this fee as well? And why these fees have occurred on my daughter?

To be blunt---you were not paying enough attention.   She could have used the Free Edition and/or could have avoided the $40 refund processing fee by not saying she wanted the fees to be paid from a federal refund.  That fee happens when you pay your fees by having the refund go to a third party bank instead of paying upfront using a credit or debit card before you e-file.   That  bank receives the refund from the IRS, takes out the amount owed to TurboTax, collects $40 for itself, and sends the rest of the refund to you.

Same thing happened to one of my family members. Turbo tax should direct you to free version for simple returns. Intuit, fix this! Only fair to consumers! How can We get a refund?
