My hard drive died and no data can be recovered. I cannot remember if I used a different email address to register it. I need help to download the Premier 2020 return.
@dbdyckes1 If you used the CD/download to prepare your return:
If you used desktop software downloaded/installed from a CD to your own computer, then the tax files are stored locally on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive. They are not stored online. If you cannot recover them due to a hard drive failure, etc. you can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $43, an actual copy of your tax return.

If you used online software:
Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
If you need to download the TurboTax software for tax year 2020 you have to sign onto your download account using the same User ID you used to purchase the software.
Go to this TurboTax website for your download account - https://shopping.turbotax.intuit.com/unified/downloads?route=myaccounts
If you filed the 2020 tax return -
Go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
this is a rediculious reply to my issues and is completly un acceptable.
@andersonrobertw I don't see that you asked a question. This thread is 9 pages long with many posts on it. Please start a new question and give your details.
@andersonrobertw The only other post from your username in this forum is one from May when you asked about the filing deadline for residents of Texas. Try asking a question again. Click the blue bubble that says Ask a Question:

Same problem. Intuit said return to Amazon and rebuy trim intuit. Not an acceptable answer
Can you copy the exe file from your main computer onto a flash drive and use it to install it on your laptop? That is what I am goign to try. One program I purchased from Costco downloaded to both computers just fine, the other didn't.
If you buy the CD then you can EITHER use the CD to install the program to ALL computers you own OR use the download option for ALL the computers you own. You cannot "mix & match". If you don't have a CD drive and you have already used the CD on one computer then saving the installation file to a thumb drive to move it to the computer without a CD drive is a valid option.
Where do I find it in downloads
I do not remember my user I.D. from last year so I tried to "register a new name" Download did not work but
said the Key was already registered to someone else??????????????????
what is next step?
It would be best to speak with a customer support assistant by phone. You can follow the instructions here to reach the best person.
I'm trying to download when I get this message I don't know of another account
Are you installing from a CD or downloading it from TurboTax.com? Sometimes you will get that message if you have installed it from the CD and then attempt to download the software onto another computer.
If that is the case, you will need to reach out to Customer Support for assistance.
