Greetings
Someone helped my friend to file tax returns 3 weeks ago. My friend thinks that she received some emails from turbotax after it was done but accidentally deleted them. And she also realized that she hasn't received and money to her bank account yet. Now that person who helped her admitted that he might have screwed something up and return was never filed. Now my friend asked me for help and I don't know what it means because I'm not very familiar with such situations. I'm attaching home page screenshots from her account.
Could someone please clarify what happened here and what should be done?
Thank you

If it says Printed or Ready to Mail that means it wasn't efiled and she had to print and mail it to the IRS herself. So if nobody mailed it then it wasn't filed.
If you need to amend your 2020 tax return, here's a TurboTax article with instructions.
If the return was never filed you do not amend. Just fix it and efile it or print and mail it. Did they start the amending process?
How to cancel or undo an Amended return

Then to get back into a return do not click on Amend. Click on Add A State to let you back in.
Oh you know what? You better check and see if it was originally efiled and accepted before you do anything. She may have gotten emails saying it was Transmitted and then another email saying if it was Accepted or Rejected.
You can check your efile status here,
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup
When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.
When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?
It says "Return status: printed". Actually I attached screenshots with this information from the home page but they were deleted.
She never received emails with "accepted" or "rejected" status. She received some emails right after that person did something when they tried to file it. Maybe those emails were unrelated to filing tax return. I think they never filed it.
I meant "return status: printed" was on the home page. I'll use your link to check efile status.

When I use the link it goes to the Tax Home page. And when I choose 2020 year it says:
Can we just click "add state" to get to the return and efile it from there?
I guess I figured it out. I used "add a state" to get to the return, then went through everything to fix some mistakes that person did, and filed it. Now I have 3 entries for federal and state returns. First two are "printed", and the third ones, that I efiled, are pending. Looks weird but I guess that's how it'll be in the statuses.
Anyway your answers helped me. Thank you @VolvoGirl
ready to mail
If you have a message on TurboTax that your tax return is ready to mail it means that you may have clicked the "mail" option instead of "e-file". You need to switch to the e-file option if you want to e-file.
To change to e-filing please follow these steps in this TurboTax FAQ: How do I change from mail to e-file in TurboTax Online?
