I filled 1/20 and haven't heard a thing... What number can I call to reach someone at the IRS? I see people saying they've spoken with someone however I am unable to find a number that works... I call the number on the IRS site (800-829-1040) and it says due to high call volume I cant speak to anyone... someone help! I am losing my mind...

Called the [phone number removed] #, hit 1, then 2....been on hold 1 hr 13 minutes...who can I complain to???
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
It should then transfer you to an agent.
(An agent from Turbo Tax sent me this:) I did get through to a person at the IRS.

I ACTUALLY got through to a human being. You can't use the 1040 number, all you'll get is "due to excessively high call volume, your call cannot be completed ...." Use 1-800-829-0115. Then, press 1 for English (assuming you understand English), then press 2 (unless you received by mail one of the letters they list, in which case you press 1) and then it will ask for your social. After entering your social, confirm it is correct by pressing 1, then you'll hear seven topics. Press 1 again, to "set up a payment plan." Even if that's not why you're calling, press 1 anyway. There was a 15-30 minute wait when I called. It took 25 minutes, then a human answered, and resolved my issue. So again, call 1-800-829-0115, press 1, 2, enter social, press 1, 1. Good luck!
please I need to talk to someone at IRS
