Accepted for processing and how long it will take to process is much longer then normal again this year.
This is not a normal tax year. The IRS in most tax years will issue a tax refund within 21 days after the tax return has been accepted in 90% of the time.

As of May 15, 2021, we had 300,000 individual tax returns received prior to 2021 in the processing pipeline. Including current year returns, as of May 15, 2021, we had 16.4 million unprocessed individual returns in the pipeline. Unprocessed returns include those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.

Where did you see the term "accessed?" Did TurboTax send you an email saying your account or return had been accessed, and to phone them if it wasn't you that had accessed it?
Well could you possibly tell me if irs has even gotten my tax return..whats my status..where is my refund..and/or how much and/or when will i get it and how..please.. Thank you..
Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
why did my taxes get accessed what does that mean

What does acceded mean
TurboTax is letting you know that someone (you, in this case) signed into your TurboTax account. This message is sent to you on the off-chance that your account was accessed without your knowledge. This most often occurs when you login using a different device or computer than you used the last time you logged in.
After my refund was accessed when will I receive it
Ok ... lets get the terms correct ... the return is efiled and ACCEPTED for processing. How long the IRS will take to process the return and APPROVE the refund for release and a date it will be sent is posted on the IRS/state websites.
"Accepted" and "approved" do not mean the same thing. When you e-file and your return is "accepted" that does not mean everything is okay and you will get a quick refund. Accepted means the IRS is going to look at it and process it and decide if they approve of your refund. Approval comes later.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20a of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.
It was me austeania Jones getting help from my daughter to see if I did my taxes right I gave my daughter permission to look up my info to see if I did everything right
Our joint senior return submitted electronically was initially rejected for a reason we did not understand. First time ever. We are due a refund. WE resubmitted by postal mail before filing deadline and have not received any response. Thank you for your response and update.
the prior message is explanatory. I received the answer. Thank you
@John326 It is taking the IRS six to nine months to process mailed federal tax returns, so you have to wait patiently. Until a human being opens the envelope you mailed your Form 1040 in, you will not even see anything on the IRS refund site.
TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
What does it mean when I get a message saying my tax are being accessed
It means that TurboTax is making you aware that there was activity in your account.
If you did anything in your TurboTax program, TurboTax sends a message as a security precaution to make sure it was you.
