@jesschoim If, by any chance, you had a foreign tax redetermination related to the foreign tax credit for prior years then form 1116 is unavailable in the online version and you are out of scope for us to be able to help you here.
If you do not have a redetermination (which requires form 1116, schedule C) then form 116 is available in the online version. If you are still not able to access it then I suggest you first clear your cache and cookies - which means removing all of the temporary programs that can gum up your web browser. If that doesn't work, try using a different web browser.
Here is a link on how to clear your cache and cookies.
Hi, you need to update your deluxe version. Go to Turbotax > check for updates and you should be fine.
Still not there.
Similar to your prior replies, the schedule says "Form 1116 Sch B, Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule available", but the TurboTax Home & Business desktop software that we updated today (3/28/22) still says "This is just a quick reminder that we need to work on the tax forms in your return that were previously under construction. We've listed them below. if your forms still aren't available, we'll help you complete them on the dates shown. Form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit Available: 0".
We want to file ASAP. Will TTax add this form in the next 2 days, or what should we do?! Manually delete it since it's about pennies only?
I'm still getting the message as of 28/03/2022 that form 1116 is not available. multiple updates have applied and the form is still not there even thoug t-tax shows is should be available. i'm waiting to file on this form. is this a known bug?
i'm in the same position. t-tax says it should be available, but i keep getting the same message.
I have been working in the 1116 today with no problems. From the federal deductions and credits section, scroll down to Foreign Taxes and enter the information. With the desktop, you have FORMS mode.]You should be able to open the 1116 in there and then switch to step by step.
Otherwise, the solution is more updates. There have been a lot of them lately. I had to do several in a row one day recently.
@FR925
Thank you for the reply -
I have not had a redetermination, and I see the same screenshot (attached in my previous post) after clearing cache & cookies, and in three different browsers total (Firefox, Chrome, Safari). It seems others below are experiencing the same issue.
Is this a known issue / being worked on, and if so, when will it be ready on the Online site?
This Post is for ONLINE USERS only, this bug is different for other versions and they have a “Forms” capability to correct which is not available online. . I have struggled through the same problem you have been having. I’ve tried all of the advice given on this thread, multiple times. I finally got rid that error message and was able to generate a correct tax form. I did so many things I’m not sure what follows will work for you since my journey went down many paths.
First - I tried to recreate my steps but since I already filed my return (witch includes a correct 1116) . I am not able to go back recreate my steps since i already filed. So the following is from my memory, hope you are able to follow.
. To figure out if you have the same issue.
1. Open your return and get to the “1116 Form missing “ error.
2. Select tools, on the left of your screen.
3. Select the option that lets you “view/print” your return.
4. You should see form 1116 with nothing filled .
To get rid of the “bad” form 1116
To get a good form 1116
Hope this works for you!
[Update on Apr 13]: This has been solved, please refer more details in the post below
Sorry to break in here: May I know does anyone happen to came across this kind of error in Foreign tax credit carryover - "Incoming C/O utilized should not reduce the foreign taxes below 0" (I am using the download desktop version), more details could be found in https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-credits-deductions/discussion/re-foreign-tax-carryover-greater... , if anyone knows the solutions of this, would much appreciate if you could kindly share, thanks so much!
I have the desktop version, Home and Business 2021, and recently updated it, there is no Form 1116 that I can find. How can I use Form 1116 to record my Foreign Tax Credit, Line 14, Code B. Last year I couldn't use the form. You say it's available. Please help me find it. This is as of 4/20/22.

To enter Foreign taxes paid -
Or enter foreign taxes in the Search box located in the upper right of the online program screen. Click on Jump to foreign taxes
Using the desktop editions - Click on Forms. When in Forms mode click on Open Form at the top left of the page. Type in 1116. The Form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit should be shown. Click on the form and Open the form.
Super, thank you! I had entered it into the foreign tax paid section, but wanted to use Form 1116 instead. And just to clarify I do it one way or the other, not both, correct?
