@philipperowland - Where did you get your info? There is a proposed date 3/3/2022. Lets hope they meet it.

Dear All,
Since writing on this chain of “replies”, I got my tax return confirmed on March 2 by using H&R Block. I did my return on February 18. I switched as soon as I saw they moved the date to March 3. I will be recieving my return before you all even file on 3rd. Please reconsidee using Turbo tax onwards.
I was just getting it off the other post.
BUT, I looked at the Forms on TT and it was there and it said "Don't File." And TT said I didn't need it either so I deleted it and it worked.
Wise move. Turbo Tax is junk. Requested a refund, I am sure these losers will fight to keep my money, What a rip off.
It is 2/26/2022 and the form has still not been added to Turbotax... is there an update to the expected date of release? I have been waiting over a month and this is the last step I have to file my taxes...

As has been previously stated -
Form 1116, Foreign Tax Credit for tax year 2021 is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 03/03/2022
Go to this TurboTax website for IRS forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html
Let's hope they meet it this time... the date keeps being pushed back. But thanks for the site to see the list of dates so I don't have to keep logging in every day to be disappointed.
Having form 1116 available is not the end of this sad story. It gets worse.
There is a new form required for the Foreign Tax Credit if any amount is entered on line 10 of form1116. This new form is the Form 1116 Sch B, Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule.
According to Turbo Tax's form availability page the Form 116 Sch B, Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule will not be supported for e-filing. - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html
The result appears to be that if anything is entered on Form 1116 line 10 then Turbo Tax will not be able to do the e-file.
See the discussion related to this on this other thread specifically related to it:
Form 1116 is available from the IRS (https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1116.pdf), but TT cannot be used to complete it (until they fix their software). You would have to complete Form 1116 manually. Also, you would have to submit your taxes on paper. You can find the 1116 instructions online, but completing the form can be a bit daunting. I have completed it that way multiple times but I have also made mistakes several times. For example, Part 1 line 3 has several items that are not straight-forward.
I used H&R Block for years but this year I could not purchase a version with a CD, so I have been using TT. Until about two years ago HRB did not support Form 1116 so I had to complete it manually. But when they did "support" it I could not file electronically. I prefer the HRB interface to that of TT.
I am discovering this issue with 1116 Schedule B and this is very disappointing. It is very common to have carry-overs from past years with foreign tax credits. Not being able to file electronically, and having to wait until 3/31, is not what I expect from the largest tax software provider in the USA.
If our lemming politicians would make the tax code easier the 90% of us who have to file would be happy They screw around with the tax code every year to make it more complicated and we get screwed. I am not defending TT but changes have impacts
Look at all the crazy forms in the TT list
We should have a not to exceed 2 page tax form and a flat tax Or just eliminate the income tax and go to a federal sales/vat tax
From the IRS website in re Form 1116:

That msg is from Intuit. See the URL.
So it is...thx. I take it the IRS is the source?
